                                  General Meeting

                              Friday: August 10, 2010



Members in Attendance:

Jake Perez (President), Lauren Bentson (Vice President), Andrea Baylon (Activities
Commissioner), Alex Ramadon (Senator), Cassidy Ellis (Senator), and Divya
Varughese (Senator).



Call to Order:

  I.   Meeting called to order at 11:00 a.m.

       1. First motion to call meeting to order made by (President) Jake Perez,
          second motion was made by (Activities Commissioner) Andrea Baylon.



 II.   Sign In


Minutes Approval:

III.   Minutes Report

       1. First motion made by (President) Jake Perez, second motion was made by
          (Activities Commissioner) Andrea Baylon. Minutes were unanimously
          approved at 11:15 a.m.



Expenditures and Project Approvals:

IV.    Campus Kick-off:

       1. Discussion to spend $ 500.00 on supplies needed to host the event. Event
          will be held August 31, 2010 at 11am to 2pm. Approval to charge $2.00
          for one hot dog and a drink, or one Frito boat and a drink. With the
          purchase of a student i.d. card students will receive one free entrée and a
          drink. First motion made by (President) Jake Perez, second motion was
                made by (Activities Commissioner) Andrea Baylon. Unanimously approved
                at 11:30 a.m.



  V.         Movie Night:

             1. Discussion to show the movie “Patriot.” Movie will be shown September
                29, 2010 at 4pm till 9pm. Charges will go as followed, a dollar per bag of
                popcorn, a dollar per water bottle, and fifty cents per candy. First motion
                made by (President) Jake Perez, second motion was made by (Activities
                Commissioner) Andrea Baylon. Unanimously approved at 11:50 p.m.



 VI.         Jeopardy:

             1. Discussed the use of the Jeopardy game from the previous year, for
                Constitution day. It will be hosted between the hours of 11am-1pm. First
                motion made by (Senator) Cassidy Ellis, second motion made by (Vice-
                President) Lauren Bentson. Unanimously approved at 12:20 p.m.



VII.         Rocktober Festival:

             1. Discussion to hold event on October 12, 2010. There will be a Halloween
                costume contest, and we will have college recruiters hosting booths. First
                motion made by (Activities Commissioner) Andrea Baylon, second motion
                made by (Vice-President) Lauren Bentson. Unanimously approved at
                12:40 p.m.



VIII.        Fall Harvest:

             1. Discussion to hold event on October 28, 2010. Each club will be
                responsible for participating in a food fair. Events will include games, and
                battle of the bands. First motion made by (Activity Commissioner) Andrea
                Baylon, second motion made by (Senator) Cassidy Ellis. Unanimously
                approved at 1:00 p.m.

  Promotion of Office:

        I.      Discussion of (Senator) Alex Ramadon being promoted from Senator to
                Secretary. First motion made by (Activities Commissioner) Andrea Baylon,
        second motion made by (Vice-President) Lauren Bentson. Unanimously
        approved at 1:20 p.m.

Future Business:

  I.    Plant a tree for Patriot’s day
  II.   Next meeting will be held August 27, 2010 between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
        First motion made by (Secretary) Alex Ramadon, second motion made by
        (Activities Commissioner) Andrea Baylon. Unanimously approved at 1:30
        pm.

I.    Old Business:
         A. Patriot Day (September 9, 2010). 11-12pm.
                 Speakers: President Jake Perez, Activities Commissioner Andrea
                    Baylon and Lucas Reyes.
                 Fliers issued through email and posters placed around campus
                 Distributing Handouts and Ribbons: Vice President Lauren Bentson
                    and Secretary Alexandra Ramadan.
         B. Hispanic Heritage Event (September 16, 2010) 10:30-2:30 pm.
                 Set-Up (10:30am-12:00pm): Sabrina Neylon, Wesley Kemp, President
                    Jake Perez, Kaitlyn Warring, and Jessica Lopez.
                 During Event (12:00pm-1:00pm):
                       o Money Collectors: Vice President Lauren Bentson and Senator
                           Divya Varughese.
                       o Nachos: Senator Cassidy Ellis and President Jake Perez.
                       o Drinks: Shirley Neylon and Activities Commissioner Andrea
                           Baylon.
                       o Piñata: Lucas Reyes.
                 After Event (1:00pm-2:30pm): Activities Commissioner Andrea
                    Baylon, Shirley Neylon, Vice President Lauren Bentson, Courtney
                    Varick, and President Jake Perez.
                 Possibilities (?): Jalapeño-eating contest, dancing classes,
                    demonstration of dancing by local studios or schools, games.
II.   New Business
                1. Activity Wrap-Up (Improvement Ideas):
                        Move activities towards the end of the month to encourage
                           active participation in the events.
                        Advertise more! By word-of-mouth and more posters.
                        Different spacing for club participation.
                        More advance notice for the student body of events.
                Misters and other outdoor accommodations to alleviate the
                 heat.
       2. $2 Tuesdays:
             a. Hotdogs and Drinks= $2.00. free with student ID.
             b. Frito Boats= $2.00. free with student ID.
             c. Soda (cans)= $1.00
             d. Water (bottles)= $1.00

                  3. Unanimous decision.
III.   Future Business:
       A. Speak with other clubs on campus about participating in the ASB Campus Kick-
          Off as a way of promoting their clubs since no Club Rush will be taking place.
       B. Next Meeting: Friday, August 27, 2010; 2pm-3pm.

                              participate in our activities and actively encouraging them to
                              assist and get involved.
                   7. ASB Committees (applies to next two events—Hispanic Heritage Day
                      & Constitution Day—except for Rocktoberfest Committee):
                            1. Poster Committee= take care of posters and advertisements
                                on campus.
                                     Chairperson: Senator Jean Kim
                            2. Rocktoberfest/ Harvest Festival= oversee things in regards to
                                this particular event—activities, music, games, etc.

                            3. Publicity Committee= advertise outside of the school. ie:
                                public service announcements.

                            4. Entertainment Committee= games, contests, music, etc. :

                            5. ID Card Committee= increase ID card sales on campus and
                                promote sales with letters to businesses to offer discounts to
                                students.
