Best Way To Level Alteration Fast

If you've been following the previous guides, then by now you have 100 in Enchanting with the related
perks (6 perks). This is essential to make levelling Alteration easy and fast.
There's also the problem of finding the right Alteration spell to level up. You can use Telekinesis,
Detect Life or Waterbreathing to level up. The problem is, the vendor will only sell you these books if
you have at least 50 (Adept level) in alteration. If you are lucky you may have found one of these
books in random loot. If not, you can do the College of Winterhold questline which leads to
Labyrinthian where you can find Telekinesis spell book there. It's a long quest line btw. You can also
use Novice/Apprentice spells such as Candlelight/Magelight to get to 50 first if you don't feel like
doing the questline. But once you reach 50, buy Telekinesis ASAP. Using Novice/Apprentice spells
when your at Adept or better will be a lot slower.
Here are the steps:
1. Buy normal Circlet, Necklace, Ring and Robes. What i mean normal here is the unenchanted
one. You can get empty Circlet, Necklace, Ring on Jewelry shop, such as one at Solitude. You
can also craft Necklaces and rings via smithing, but you cannot craft Circlet.
For the robes/clothes, you can get them easily from ordinary houses in cities (check their wardrobes),
or from the mages that sells potions/scrolls in cities' keep. These items also drop a lot in random
dungeon.
Why circlets ? Well, any helm works also but you can wear circlet along with a Falmer helmet and the
enchanting result will be even stronger with 5 items instead of 4. But if you don't want to use the 5th
items method, just use 4 and you'll be fine.
2. Get the enchanment “Fortify Alteration”. Search the shops for armor items that reduces your
alteration spell casting cost. Look for items with “of Minor Alteration”, “of Major Alteration”,
“of Extreme Alteration”, “of Eminent Alteration” or “of Peerless Alteration”. You only need
one. Disenchant it to get the enchantment.
3. Enchant the Circlet, Necklace, Ring, Robes with “Fortify Alteration” and use Grand Soul Gem
(filled with Grand Soul). If you have 100 Enchanting with the above mentioned perk before,
then you should have “Alteration spells cost 25% less to cast” on each of your items. Four items
of those will cause your Alteration spells cost 100% lest to cast.
4. Then it's a matter of which spells you want to use as levelling. I personally use Telekinesis to
level up, because its simplicity. Just pick up any items with the spell and hold it down and it
will level up very fast. And since your spells cost zero to cast now you can keep it up
indefinitely until your skill reach 100.
