GENERAL INFORMATION
RISK MANAGEMENT
Equipment brought into the Capitol Theatre is subject to safety checks by Capitol Theatre
staff.
All Mains-connected electrical equipment requires an attached current inspection tag from a
licensed electrician.
Lighting equipment rigged overhead must be secured with a safety chain or equivalent.
Overhead equipment (including scenery) must be rigged by a qualified rigger, using
appropriately certified equipment.
Scenery and large props must be of a fire retardant fabric or treated with a fire retardant. A
certificate of such treatment must be produced on request.
In accordance with NSW Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) legislation, a Risk
Assessment is required during pre-production for all events.
ACCOMMODATIONS
Technical Rooms and Dressing Rooms, ranging from Star Suites to Chorus Rooms, begin at
sub-stage level and extend over 6 floors, including: Wardrobe, Theatre Management Offices,
Green Room with Kitchen and Rehearsal Room. All rooms have air conditioning and some
have natural light.

The Rehearsal Room is located on the 3rd level of the Capitol Theatre.
Access is via Stage Door which is located on the corner of Pitt and Hay Streets, Haymarket.
Access to Rehearsal Room via Theatre Goods Lift – 2.4m x 2.7m.
Piano available.

HOUSE CURTAIN
The House Curtain is in two halves being blue velvet with gold trim. Its measurements are
20,800mm Wide x 10,500mm Drop, with 800mm overlap and sewn with 80% fullness.
Outside edges 40mm.
There is a pelmet hung separately to the house curtain.
The venue has a number of boarders, legs, tabs and side masks which can be made
available at a competitive industry rate.
STAGE ACCESS
Via a truck lift (travel approx. 1,500mm) down to stage level in Upstage OP corner with end
access only. It can take truck tray no longer than 41ft. down to stage level if required.
Truck lift also has the ability to stop at service level which allows truck to unload straight onto
truck lift at street level under an awning.
At this level the truck lift has a side exit which gives access to Service Lift on ground floor
which is good for taking equipment to FOH and the auditorium. Side exit size? m Wide x? m
High
Lift platform size 13.4m Long x 3.4m wide, end on access. (Note: A 45ft Trailer does not fit)
Street level door is 3.3m Wide x 5m High.
It has a weight restriction of 25,000kg
SERVICE LIFT
A lift to most backstage levels has been provided with approximately internal dimensions of
2.4m x 2.7m with a weight restriction of 2,000kg.
