          1. Introduction – Professional Edition, Enterprise Edition and
          MSP Edition Architecture
          This document is common and applies to installation of all editions of IT360 – Professional
          [Standalone] Edition, Enterprise [Distributed] Edition Architecture and MSP [Distributed]
          Edition Architecture.

          ManageEngine IT360 is an Integrated IT management solution by Manage Engine designed to
          Monitor and Manage IT Infrastructure for Small, Medium or Large Enterprise. ManageEngine
          IT360 adds a business context to monitoring IT Resources, there by helping the various
          stakeholders understand the impact of downtimes on the business.

          An easy to use Web Console guides the user to monitor the availability and performance of the
          network, servers and applications. The in-built ITIL ready Service Desk helps reduce the
          complexity of workflows in production and makes it easy for the IT Administrator to run an
          effective IT Operations.

          ManageEngine IT360 provides you with an in-depth visibility into your business IT
          infrastructure. ManageEngine IT360 covers a wide range of services such as application
          performance management, in-depth monitoring of performance and availability of network
          devices, network traffic flow and provide you with real-time network behavior and its impact
          on your business services. Its ITIL based service desk offers best practices to make sure that
          your IT Services are available 24x7x365.

          2. System Requirements
          This section is common and applicable to all the three editions of IT360 – Professional Edition,
          Enterprise Edition and MSP Edition.

          In order to install ManageEngine IT360, you need to ensure that you meet the minimum system
          requirements in order for ManageEngine IT360 to function effortlessly. The System
          Requirements mentioned below applies to the Central Server and also the probes and also the
          standalone Professional Edition.

          Minimum:

          Processor              2 GHz Quad Core Processor
          RAM                    8 GB
          HDD                    250 GB (SAS / SSD)
          OS                     32-bit 2003 / 2008 Windows Server Enterprise Edition
          Backend Database       MySQL or MS SQL 2005 / 2008 Standard or Enterprise Editions Only
          Browsers               IE 7.0 or Firefox 3.x and above


          Recommended:

          2.1 Excluding the IT360 folder from AV scanning
          Important: After you decide to install IT360 in a given folder in the server, you need to
          exclude that folder and its sub folders from any Anti Virus scanning operation.

          3. Database Configuration for IT360
          This section is common and applicable to all the three editions of IT360 – Professional Edition,
          Enterprise Edition and MSP Edition.

          ManageEngine IT360 supports MySQL and MS SQL as a backend database. MySQL is bundled by
          default in the product and is automatically installed while installing IT360; you do not require
          any separate configuration steps if you choose to use MySQL.

          However, if MS SQL Server is required you would need to procure a licensed version of MS SQL
          and configure the same to enable a connection to IT360. Here are the steps:

          1. Ensure that the following Windows Services are running in the machine where SQL Server is
             installed:

                      SQL Server

                      SQL Server Browser

          2. Ensure that you have the proper (Admin) privileges as per the steps given below:

                      a. Preferred User Rights -> Admin User Privileges.

                      b. Use SQL Management Studio to configure user rights.

                      c. Server authentication should be SQL and Windows authentication mode.




          Once the Services are running, execute the following steps by using SQL Server Configuration Manager.

          3. Under Server Roles, enable the following roles:

                      Public

                      Sysadmin

          4. Under User Mapping, map ‘master’ to the User who is given Admin privileges.

          5. Enable the following protocols in Protocols for MSSQLSERVER [SQL Server Configuration Manager –
              SQLServer Network Configuration – Protocols for MSSQLSERVER]:

                      a. Shared Memory

                      b. Named Pipes

                      c. TCP/IP




          6. Right-click on TCP/IP, go to 'Properties' and then select 'IP Addresses'.

          7. Make sure that the fields 'Active, Enabled and 'TCP Port' is configured so that IT360 is able to
              connect to the SQL Server.

          Note:

                  Use a prefix to identify database related to IT360, while configuring database
                  parameters

                  If SQL Server is installed on a remote server, you have to copy the following files from
                  SQL Server installation to [IT360_Home]\traffic\bin folder. (for example)

                      o C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Binn\bcp.exe

                      o C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Binn\Resources\1033\bcp.rll

                  IT360 stores raw traffic data for a certain period of time. This data has to be periodically
                  written to the remote database server using SQL bulk copy tool - bcp.exe.

                  Download the same version of MS SQL server Native Client and install it on the IT360
                  Server. This is needed for IT360 to communicate to the remote database server.

          4. Installing ManageEngine IT360

          1. Go through the system requirements mentioned in Chapter 2 for installing IT360.

          2. After you decide to install IT360 in a given folder in the server, you need to exclude that
              folder and its sub folders from any Anti Virus scanning operation.
          3. Make sure that you have downloaded the latest version of ManageEngine IT360.

          4. Begin installing process by double clicking on ’exe’ file to start the installation.




          5. Read through the License Agreement and then click ’Yes’ to accept it to proceed to
             installation folder.




          6. Choose the right edition you wish to install in your environment.

          The Professional Edition caters to small and medium enterprises. It requires only one server to
          run and monitor your entire IT infrastructure. This does not require a Probe to monitor your IT
          infrastructure.

          If your requirement is scalability, then you should choose Enterprise Edition. It consists of a
          Central Server and multiple Probes. These probes must be installed in various locations you
          wish to monitor. The monitored information is sent from the Probe to the Central server
          through secure transmission (https) and that information is available through the Central
          Console view.

          If you choose to install Enterprise Edition, go to Chapter 4.2 - Installing Enterprise Edition

          4.1. Installing Professional Edition

          If you choose to install Professional Edition, follow the steps given below:

          7. You can change the location of the installation folder of ManageEngine IT360 by clicking on
             ‘Browse’ button. By default, it installs under

          8. Specify the shortcut name which will appear in the ‘Start Menu’.

          9. The next steps are to change the port number through which ManageEngine IT360
             communicates. You can also choose to change the default port number or the type of
             communication (HTTP or HTTPS).




                                The default port number for an HTTP connection is 8080.

                                The default port number for an HTTPS connection is 8443

          However, make sure that the port number you provide is not used by any other program.

          10. Once you have correctly configured the port settings, the setup wizard would require you to confirm
              the installation settings. Then the installation will begin. It will take few minutes for the installation
              wizard to extract the files into the installation directory.

          11. Choose if you want to use the in-built MySQL Server for storing polling information and
              other details or if you would like to link it to your MS SQL Server.




          12. If you choose MS SQL Server, please provide the following settings:

          Provide the correct ‘Database name, Port Number, Login, Password’ and ‘Prefix’ for
          ManageEngine IT360. Once the database configuration is complete, proceed to click ‘Next’ to
          complete installation.

          13. You can now choose to start ManageEngine IT360 server or click ‘Finish’ to finish the
              installation.




          Note: ManageEngine IT360 is installed as Windows service.

          4.2. Installing Enterprise Edition and MSP Edition

          In the Enterprise Edition and MSP Edition, you have a Central Server and a Probe Server. The
          Central Server is the master server which displays the data obtained by the Probe Server from
          remote locations. This data is displayed in a centralized console view. While installing Enterprise
          Edition, you first need to install the Central Server and then the Probe Server has to be installed
          in the remote location(s).

          Note: If you want to install Enterprise Edition, start from Point 13 below. If you want to install
          MSP Edition, SKIP Point 13 and start from Point 14.

          14. Once you have chosen ‘Enterprise Edition’, click ‘Next’ to proceed.

          15. Next, choose ‘Central Server’.




              This is the central server where the data collected from the probe servers will be displayed through
              a centralized console view. The data is sent through a secure channel (https).

          16. Choose the installation directory. By default, it installs under

          17. Next, setup wizard displays the shortcut name that will appear in Start Menu.

          18. Next, you need to configure the port settings for the Central Server. You can also choose

          19. Next, confirm the settings provided for the Central Server. Once you click ‘Next’, the
              installation of Central Server will begin.

          22. You can now choose to start ManageEngine IT360 server or click ‘Finish’ to finish the

          23. Once the installation of the Central Server is complete, you need to run the same
              installation again to install the Probe Server in the remote location(s).

          24. Provide the Central Server details such as its ‘Host name’ and the ‘SSL Port’.




          Next, if you have a fail-over for the Central Server, then select the check box option ‘Configure Standby
          server’, then click ‘Next’ and then go to point 25 below.

          If you do not have a fail-over or you do not want to configure the fail-over now, you can leave the check
          box in the “unchecked” state. In this case, you need to skip point 25 and jump straight away to point 26.

          25. Enter the Standby Server details requested for - the Host Server and SSL Port number. Click
              ‘Next’. Then go to point 26 given below.

          28. Next, you need to configure the port settings for the Probe Server. You can also choose

          5.      Uninstalling ManageEngine IT360
          There are three ways to uninstall ManageEngine IT360. You can follow any one of the methods
          to uninstall the product.
                  Uninstall by running the install exe file

                  Uninstall through Windows Add/Remove Programs

                  Uninstall through Start Menu in Windows

          a. Uninstall by Running the Install Exe file
          Double click on the exe file of ManageEngine IT360

          It will ask you if you would like to uninstall ManageEngine IT360 now.

          Click Yes to proceed with un-installation.

          b. Uninstall through Windows Add/Remove Programs
          Go to your Control Panel in Windows system.

          Double click on Add/Remove Programs option.

          It will display the list of programs installed in the system. Select ManageEngine IT360 and click
          Uninstall.

          c. Uninstall through Start Menu in Windows
          Try the following steps:

                                Start > All Programs > ManageEngine IT360 > Uninstall

          All three un-installation methods will remove ManageEngine IT360 from your system. However,
          the following folder will remain in your Program Files. You would need to manually remove
          them.

                                                 C:\ManageEngine\IT360

          In case you face any issue while installing or un-installing the product, kindly contact
          ManageEngine IT360 support at it360-eval@manageengine.com. Send us a screenshot and/or
          support logs and we will try to respond to you as soon as possible.
