Civetta 2012 – February Half Term
Year 9, 10, 11 and sixth form Ski Trip 2012
Dear Parent / Carer,
As a result of the success of this year’s ski trip to Italy I am proud to announce that Shoreham
Academy will be running the ski trip again next year to Italy. I am writing to you to offer your son /
daughter the opportunity to partake in Shoreham Academy’s second ski trip to Civetta, Italy. During
the week students will enjoy expert tuition with English speaking instructors and take part in evening
activities such as night skiing and ice skating. In resort students will be immersed in Italian culture
and will be provided with a buffet breakfast, hot lunch and a three course dinner each evening.
A condition of attendance on the trip for all students is that they will have to ensure they are up to
date with their coursework before departure. Furthermore the school will expect behaviour and
attendance to be acceptable at school from signing on to the trip up to attending the trip, this is due
to the nature of the trip we must be able to fully trust each pupil to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip
The trip will depart from Shoreham Academy on the 12th February and return on the 18th (February
half term). We will travel by plane to our destination and the total cost of the trip will be £949 (due
to nature of fuel prices any surcharge increases will have to be paid for as and when they arise).
Included in the cost is all travel, ski tuition, ski equipment hire, insurance, food and drink,
accommodation evening entertainments and a ski trip hoodie.
This year the trip sold out in under a week and once again there are a limited number of spaces
available on the ski trip. We will operate a first come first serve policy, if your son / daughter is
interested in going they need to complete the below slip and bring back a deposit of £150 (non
refundable) to Mr Cordwell as soon as possible.
Please do not hesitate to contact myself if you have any questions regarding the ski trip.

Ski Trip 2012 – Feb half term
The proposed ski trip will take place in the Italian ski resort of Civetta which is located in the
northeast of Italy around two hours north of Venice. The resort itself is very picturesque with a wide
range of tree lined runs catering for all ability levels. Primarily a local resort, Civetta is a very friendly
resort that avoids the crowds which can often be found at elsewhere in Europe.
All of the instructors speak good English and pupils will be placed in to groups according to ski ability,
the instructors are local to the mountain and have an excellent knowledge of all the runs to ensure
the pupils get the most out of their skiing. Each morning the pupils will perform a ski off to assess
progress and ensure the groups are balanced so the pupils are challenged through their days ski and
to ensure that they get maximum enjoyment out of the week.
Accommodation and Food:
After arriving to the resort via coach pupils will be staying in a hotel, a five minute walk from the
main gondola, all rooms have their own bathrooms with shower and usually there will be no more
than 4 pupils per room.
Breakfast consists of cereal, fruit, croissants, bread, ham, cheese and yogurts, and the pupils are able
to help themselves. Lunch will be taken on the mountain all together and will be a hot dish with a
drink. In the dinner the pupils will receive a traditional Italian meal which includes salad, pasta
course, meat course and desert.
After each day of ski pupils will be treated to an evening of entertainment, activities include night
skiing and ice skating.
