					OPORD F09-05: OPERATION HAPPY TRAILS Time Zone Used Throughout the Order: (Local) TASK ORGANIZATION: BAT HQs A Company A/1 A/2 B Company B/1 B/2

1. SITUATION: a. Enemy Forces: None Light Data / Weather -As of 07SEP09 Date 14SEP09 High 88 Low 71 SR 0618 SS 1836 Forecast Precipitation Sunny/ partly cloudy 0%

(1) Terrain: UH campus consists of urban area with improved roads, sidewalks and buildings. b. Friendly Forces (1) Mission of higher unit: The cadets of 8th Brigade, Western Region ROTC will gain proficiency in leadership skills, train and prepare MSIII Cadets for LDAC 2010. (2) Adjacent Units: Air Force ROTC may be conducting training in adjacent areas. (3) Units providing Fire Support: N/A c. Attachments and Detachments: Personnel not contracted or enrolled in ROTC may participate in ruck march with permission of cadre. 2. MISSION: Bco 2nd PL conducts ruck march around UH Campus NLT 140600SEP09 to prepare cadets for Fall FTX and Warrior Forge 2010. 3. EXECUTION: a. Commander’s Intent: Purpose:This ruck march is being conducted to offer a strenuous physical training, break in boots, and to familiarize cadets with wearing rucksack packed to a standard load. Key Tasks a. MSIII Leadership conducts PCC/PCI’s NLT 11SEP09 b. Meet all hard times c. Conduct ruck march. d. 100% accountability

End State: All cadets complete a 3.39 mile ruck march at a 17 min/mile pace and with no injuries. b. Concept of Operation – 3 Phase Operation: (1) (2) (3) Formation, accountability, and A & B Companies form 2 Company column formations Ruck march execution Final formation, announcements, dismissal,dress blisters

c. Scheme of Maneuver: Phase 1: 0600, first formation and accountability at Warrior Battalion parking lot. After accountability and stretching, A and B Company will fall their companies into 2 ranks forming a company column formation. Phase 2: A Company will step off and begin the3.39 mile ruck march NLT 0610 at a 17 min/mile pace. After 5 minutes have passed, B Company will follow stepping off NLT 0615 at a 17 min/mile pace. Phase 3: Ruckmarch is to be completed NLT 0725 followed by final accountability formation. CDT O’Neal will be in the back of formation ready to aid cadets with blisters or hotspots on their feet. All cadets should be dismissed by 0730. b. Tasks to Maneuver Units: (1) SL  Maintain accountability of cadets throughout ruck march  Ensure all hard times are met.  Ensure PCC/PCI’s are conducted and all ruck sacks weight 35lbs.  Ensure cadets are properly hydrated the night before d. 4. SERVICE SUPPORT: a. General: No initial supply or re-supply assets available. b. Material and Services: (1) Supply: Class I: Water available at formation areas 2 water containers(5 gallon)in BN van. Class II: N/A Class II: N/A Class IV: N/A Class V: N/A Class VI: N/A Class VII: BN van will be to the rear of ruck march on UH campus route (long) Class VIII:CLS bag and Litterlocated with cadre in BN van. Class IX: N/A Class X: N/A (2) Transportation: BN van will stay in the rear of the formation to pick up any cadets that fall out of the ruck march and be placed at the front of the formation to continue marching. BN van will be driven by MSG Minicozzi with TC: CDT O’Neal. (3) Services: Shower facilities located at UH aquatic center. (4) Maintenance: N/A (5) Medical Evacuation: Report any injuries to MSIV’s and Cadre immediately. BN van will be used to transport any injured cadets. 5. COMMAND AND SIGNAL: a.
