1 day visit to Leeds University to take part in a “Languages for Work” experience.
4 schools (Aston, Brinsworth, Wingfield and Winterhill)
20 pupils and 2 staff per school
Aims & Objectives
To realise the potential importance of having some language knowledge in the world of work.
To (hopefully!) encourage a more positive attitude towards MFL and increase numbers at KS4
To broaden horizons by doing activities at a Higher Education establishment

Great that pupils able to work in very small groups with own FL assistant – gave them confidence to try and have
a go

Areas for further improvement
Some of “taster” language sessions were very dry – boring – need to be much more pupil focussed (GBE and
other staff present feel these comments back to Jessica Bradley, organiser of event at Leeds University)
Future sustainability & embedding of good practice
We would like to do a / run a similar event each year – possibility of doing this at TRC? (however, I do not feel this
would have such an impact as taking them to a University) Also, good socially, for pupils to mix with other schools in a
totally new environment.
