Project Title Techno-economics of Sustainable Production and Consumption.
The Sustainable Production and Consumption Unit has vacancies for post-doctoral
researchers to carry out techno-economic analysis in the fields of clean
Description technologies and products, waste management and recycling, and environmental
management systems. The research will focus on the analysis of environmental
and economic aspects of products, technologies and techniques, on the
identification of best practices and on measures to reinforce the contribution of
the different sectors to green growth. It will also cover the analysis of
environmental policies and related regulatory instruments.
The successful candidate’s main tasks will consist of conducting, formulating and
coordinating techno-economic studies, the management and monitoring of
research tasks, analysis and summary of results and preparation of reports and
reference documents for policy makers.
He/she should have an academic and professional background in sciences,
engineering or in applied economics. He/she should have a good overview of the
different environmental problems and main industrial sources. Candidates should
have a good understanding of the relationship between technology, economy,
environment and consumption and production patterns as well as societal change
and its policy implications. A good knowledge of EU Environmental and Sustainable
Development Policies is an asset. Knowledge of quantitative tools such as LCA
tools and cost-benefit analysis is an advantage.
Candidates must hold a PhD degree or have a minimum of 5 years research
experience after the first university degree giving access to doctoral studies
(which may include periods of training such as a masters degree), in a field
relevant to the JRC's scientific activities. Candidates who have not yet
completed all the formalities to obtain a PhD or who have not yet attained 5
years of research experience on the date of application may also be considered
as eligible to apply. However the PhD must have been obtained or the 5 years of
research experience reached prior to the signature of the grantholder contract.
A very good level of written and spoken English is essential and knowledge of at
least one other EU language is compulsory.
