Huitzilopochtli- god of war and sun
Tlaloc- god of rain
Quetzalcoatl- god of learning and art
Once the Aztec overthrew the god
Quetzalcoatl, he said that he would come
back to claim the Aztec empire.
When the Spanish conquistador Cortez
first came to the Aztec empire, the Aztec
thought he was god Quetzalcoatl.
They treated him really good and gave
Huitzilopochtli gave the Aztec the
command that they were supposed to
look for the sign of an eagle eating a
snake, sitting in a prickly pear cactus.
Wherever they found the sign, they would
have to settle there. They took 200yrs to
find the sign.
Tlaloc was the god of rain.
He would provide enough rain so the
Aztec would have enough food.
The Aztec did sacrifices to the gods so
everything would go fine.
To the Aztec sacrifices were essential,
they believed that if they didn’t do
sacrifices the gods would destroy the

Aztec gods didn’t have feelings, all they
needed was blood shed from humans to
keep the world going.
