FOI 2011 – 9
Please tell me the clinical software system in use at each General Medical Practice in
By clinical software system I mean the principal software system in use at each NHS
general practice for patient electronic records e.g. INPS Vision, EMIS LV, EMIS PCS,
Emis-Web, TPP SystmOne, Torex Synergy, Torex Premiere, or similar.
If it is possible to identify the specific version of the system in use at each practice
please identify that, e.g. EMIS LV, EMIS PCS, Torex Synergy, or Torex Premiere, etc.
But if that level of detail is not readily available then a higher level of information will be
sufficient e.g. EMIS, Torex, etc.
Please identify each practice by its national identifier code, which is typically in a format
like Z00123. For your reference, a lookup list for these codes is available here:
[see link "General Practice Lookup Database as at September 2009 (MS Excel 69KB)"]
For the avoidance of doubt, I am not requesting aggregated figures on systems in use. I
want to identify the system in use at each practice, e.g.
Z00001 EMIS LV
Z10002 Torex Synergy
Z10003 EMIS PCS
Z10004 INPS Vision
It would be most suitable if this was supplied in a format such as csv or excel xls.
The provision of these software systems in general practices is publicly funded so I
should expect that you have details of the contracts with the system suppliers and the
practices to which they apply.
Alternatively it may be possible that PCAS is able to identify the software in use at each
practice since since PCAS uses the national identifiers to identify practices, and
receives data (which may indicate the software in
use) from the practice software systems.
Date of Response:15/02/11
In your e-mail of 18 January 2011 you requested the clinical software systems in use at
each General Medical Practice in Northern Ireland and specifically the national
identifier, the clinical supplier and the software version. This information is now
