Tip 1 – Optimise the title!
Far too many people write blog posts titles that they feel are catchy or witty, but alas have little SEO
value. Now you are writing to appeal to readers, granted, but you are also writing for search engine traffic,
and two or three keywords would be great, and a long-tail keyword even better! If you don’t know what a
long-tail keyword is, link a Google Analytics account to a Google Webmasters account for a website.
They look at the search engine optimisation results, including showing not just the potential impressions,
but your position in the search engine and the actual visitor traffic. This data should be motivation to
improve not just the content, but the titles.
Tip 2 – Work from a list of keywords.
Before you even write one word of your article, draw up a list of keywords to use. Don’t try and stuff them
in ad-hoc, instead bare them in mind when writing the content. Then hopefully your content will be
natural, but also include the relevant keywords.
Tip 3 – Link back to a previous article.
If you are writing about a topic, you’ve also covered in the past, why not promote a previous article as well
on your own website? This form of internal SEO, is actually noticed by search engines, but also if you
overdo it, it could have a negative effect, especially if placing too many links on a page. When placing
links in a blog post, try and include a maximum of two. Don’t forget to include keywords in the anchor link
text, and avoid using phrases such as ‘click here for more’.
Tip 4 – Include the meta data!
When you write an article perhaps there is the option to include a meta title, description and keywords.
Don’t skip these details as they could help with search engine placement. Make sure the description is
160 characters or less though.

efforts could be either wasted or not maximised. Instead hire Neogain to provide search engine
