Description: DEKOTE is next generation chemistry for paint removal products that will obsolete the
old method of chemical paint stripping. DEKOTE works by entering the pores or cross-
linking of the coating to penetrate to the substrate where it reacts to release the coating.
QPL product in accordance with Tinker AFB Specification OC-ALC 2008-01. This
product is also approved for removing coatings from composites per T.O. 1E-3A-3-1
and T.O. 1-1-24.
Facts: DEKOTE is:
Environmentally Safe and Effective Paint Removal Product
Stable, non-hazardous and non-toxic components
Available in one, five, and fifty-five gallon containers
Available in tote quantities for large applications
Also available in convenient aerosol packages
DEKOTE is a jellified material designed to effectively cling to hard to reach areas,
including overhead and vertical surfaces.
DEKOTE’s unique formula offers a safe and effective alternative to Methylene Chloride
and other hazardous strippers. DEKOTE does not damage the metal substrate or remove
previously applied conversion coatings.
DEKOTE works great on all powder and e-coatings, including:
Thermoset: epoxies, epoxy-polyester hybrids, urethane polyesters, acrylic-
urethane, fluoroelastomer and TGIC polyester coatings.
Thermoplastic: polyurethane, polypropylene, nylon, PVC, polyester
Alkyds, polysulfied, polyamide, and polyamine.
All Rain erosion coatings including CAPCOAT and ASTROCOAT.
Directions for use:
The best method for DEKOTE application is by using a coarse pressure spray wand with a number 25 nozzle
tip and a 45-degree spray pattern at 125 PSI. Start by applying a thin layer of DEKOTE to the surface and
allow to dwell for 1 hour. Follow this with a second and slightly heavier application and allow to dwell until
the coating is completely lifted from the substrate. Normally 2-8 hours of total dwell time depending on the
type of coating and mil thickness.
It is important to re-apply DEKOTE where tough coatings and/or multiple coatings are used. One mil of
DEKOTE for every mil of paint is the general rule of thumb. DEKOTE can also be brushed on if spray
equipment is not available.
DEKOTE Paint Release Agent Other Paint Strippers
Lifts both primer and topcoats completely from the Dissolves the paint in itself creating a slurry mess of
substrate without affecting the paint itself hazardous waste
DEKOTE and rinse water are non-hazardous, only the The stripper with paint dissolved in it is all hazardous
paint chips may be hazardous waste waste
Contains no HAPS or Carcinogens and is non-flammable, Often flammable, unstable, toxic to breathe and burns the
non-toxic and completely biodegradable skin on contact
Safe on all metals and will not corrode soft alloys such as May cause damage to metal, primarily corrosion.
aluminum Prone to causing hydrogen embrittlement
No objectionable odor. Very comfortable to work around Strong objectionable odor, possibly toxic, may cause
and does not require special breathing equipment respiratory harm without the use of special breathing
IMPORTANT: Before using any DEPAINT product, always be sure to read and follow warnings and directions for
uses appearing on the product container label, MSDS, and applicable current technical manual.
