Introduction
This introduction isn't going to be about me, or my 10 reasons why
I think I'm great. Instead I'm going to make this an introduction
to backlinks.
First and foremost, if you're thinking backlinks are going to get you
tons of traffic, you have the wrong idea about backlinks. Backlinks
are the method to get your website ranked in the search engines,
which results in floods of free traffic.
To get ranked, you'll need to chose the right keywords. Use the
Google Keyword Tool to find keywords in your niche that will drive
traffic. Start by typing in your niche at the top, entering the
CAPTCHA code, and hitting the search button.
Don't even look at the results yet, they're misleading. Select
[Exact] then unselect Broad in the Match Types section. See pic
below.

You'll now be looking at how many times per month people search
Google for the exact keywords or keyphrases you searched for.
Next you'll need to check the competition to see how easy it is
to rank for a specific keyword. I use HotNicheSpy to do this fast.
It shows the Clicks Per Day, Cost Per Click, and most importantly for
this is the Average Page Rank of the top 10 sites ranked for the
keyword.
HNS also points out a list of related keywords(left arrow) and the
link, related keywords the site is ranking for, and PR of each of the
top 10 resluts(right arrow).
Keywords has an average PR of 5.3 and is a difficult level keyword.

You can still rank for it with these techniques, but it will take a lot
of dedicated work and a lot longer time than a keyword that has an
average PR of 1.2.
With Hot Niche Spy if you find the main keyword is highly
competitive you can grab all of the recommended keywords,
and analyze them all at the same time to find the easier keywords
for your niche.
This saves massive amounts of time.
If you prefer to do it manually, you'll need to get the SEO for
Firefox plugin. With it, you'll be able to see the Page Rank, Age,
and Incoming Yahoo Links in your Google results when you do a
search.
Once you've found a keyword or keyphrase that you want to rank
for, you can head over to the Backlink Checker to find out how
many, and what type of links the top page is using to rank with.
Take note that you'll find an assortment of anchor text links, and no
follow links included.
All variations of links are important in Search Engine Optimization
and will play a role in getting your site to rank.
Once you have this information ready to go, you're ready to start
building anchor text backlinks to your site to get ranked.
What Is Anchor Text? Anchor text is the text that someone see
when they see your link. 3 paragraphs above, you'll notice the link
to Backlink Checker. The anchor text is what you see, but the url is
http://www.backlinkwatch.com

So why is this important? One of the most important tasks you'll
need to accomplish to get your site ranked, is to build backlinks
with anchor text for the keywords you want to rank for.
There are 2 ways to get an anchor text backlink. Using HTML or
BBCode.
HTML -
your keyword
BBCode -
[url=http://www.yourwebsite.com]your keyword[/url]
Most websites only allow HTML code. BBCode is mostly used on
forums, so keep that in mind when you're building your backlinks.
If you post a link, and it comes out with the code, first make sure
the code was written correct. If it was, try the other code.
Now that you know how to chose a keyword, and how to write the
code for your keyword, let's get started with the backlink strategies
that will get your site ranked.

Backlink Strategies
A diverse backlink structure is more effective than anything else.
What I mean by that, is if you have a variety of backlinks from
different sources it makes your backlinks look more natural, and
improves your chances of getting the number 1 spot in Google.
Keep in mind when finding sites to post your link on that,
relevancy is irrelevant. It doesn't matter if a site about flowers
posts a link to your site about rebuilding engines. It's a link. A link
is a link is a link.
Article Marketing
This is without a doubt, the most time tested and proven technique
for building backlinks, and traffic, to a website.
For backlink purposes, it's best to only submit 3-5 articles per
directory, then move on to the next directory.
The reason is that every article dirrectory will have a unique Class C
IP address, and these IP addresses are tracked with your backlink.
5 links from 20 sites is better than 200 links from 1 site.
When you write an article and submit it, you should focus on
providing great quality content.
One of the best features of article marketing, is that website
owners use the article directories to find articles to place on their
website.

When they place your article on their website, your links stay.
So by posting an article to an article directory, it can get syndicated
across the internet to loads of different Class C IP addresses. This
is the main goal when submitting to the main article directories.
If you're writing an article for a no traffic article directory, it isn't as
important.

Press Releases
This has been around longer than the internet has. I
t used to be that when a business was running a sale, just opened
up, or had any other big news it would send out a press release to
the local news outlets.
If the press release was good enough they could get free exposure
on the radio, internet, or even tv.
Well the internet is makin waves baby! Press Releases are still
around and still a great way to get word about about your site.
And most importantly for SEO, they're a great way to get your links
out on the web.

Guest Blogging
Here's a chance to get a great backlink, and some traffic too.
Find a few blogs in your niche and offer to write some content for
the blog owner.
Most blog owners will be happy to get the chance to have someone
else do the work for them, and jump on the opportunity.
Submit articles to article directories first, so that you can show the
blog owner some examples of your writing before you start
contacting blog owners.
Once you're ready head to Google and start searching for blogs in
your niche.
Use these search terms:
"your keyword"+"guest post"
"your keyword"+"guest blogger"
"your keyword"+"submit article"
"your keyword"+"submit"
"your keyword"+"contact"
Keep the quotes and the + between the search terms and you'll
find start finding blogs to post on.
Some blog owners advertise that they allow it, and others don't.
Some blog owners have never even thought about having someone
else write for them, for free.

So just because you don't see it advertised, doesn't mean that you
can't do it there.
This is a great way to get backlinks, and if you're doing it on the
right blog, it can also drive traffic to your site.
If a blog is driving traffic, consider being a regular submitter,
dropping in once every month or two.
If you didn't get any traffic, no big deal. Keep finding new blogs to
post to, since each one comes from a unique IP address.
Directory Submissions
I used to completely ignore this all together. Manually submitting
to directory sites is really time consuming.
I have had some pretty good luck with this process lately though,
because I decided to dial it in, and get it right.
Directory submissions only need to be done once per site, and only
the main url is able to be submitted (there are a few exceptions).
So the first step is to manually submit to the following sites:

Here's a Tip for submitting to directories...
The most important thing is to make sure that your site gets
submitted into the right category.
If it's not submitted to the right place, you could literally waste
months of waiting.
Some directories, like Dmoz only accept submissions into certain
categories.
At the bottom of a Dmoz page you'll see a message saying
something along the lines of; this category is being moderated by
XXXX.
If it doesn't mention that it's being moderated, don't
submit your site there.
Finding a moderated category is key.
Then I use my heavy hitter directory submit. It's a piece of
software called DeepLinker Pro.
If you have ever submitted your site to directories, you'll
understand what a time saver this is.
With DeepLinker Pro, it takes about 5 minutes to set up a
campaign, and that's it.
It goes out and retrieves hundreds of backlinks on it's own.

Web 2.0 Sites
Web 2.0 sites are sites generated by user content.
Not just free content submission sites like Hubpages and Squidoo,
but even video sites like Youtube, audio sharing sites, pdf sharing
sites, and pretty much any where that you can submit your content.
Since there are so many different types of web 2.0 sites, let's start
off by looking at how you can use free blogs to get backlinks.
Here's a powerful link with the top 50 article directories and web
2.0 sites, listed by Alexa ranking.
These sites are not only great for getting backlinks, but many of
them can help you get quality traffic to your site too.
So if you're submitting content here, make it something useful.
Here's The List
Video Submissions
Using the Video Syndication at TubeMogul you can submit your
videos to several sites with just 1 upload.
Tips:
When you make your video, use the keyword in the heading, tags,
and description.

Put a link to your site in the description.
Backlinking your video can get it ranked in the search engines, just
like any other article or webpage.
PDF Sharing Sites
This doesn't have to be an ebook that you've written.
It can be an article, converted into a PDF file and submitted for the
backlinks too.

Social Media
Don't confuse yourself into thinking that social media sites aren't
important for SEO.

Which would you consider a better website, a page with 13 "Likes"
23 Tweets and 48 Diggs, or one that has none of the above?
Social media sites are also a great way to get a page indexed fast.
I use a free service called Social Marker.
It posts to 50 social media sites at once.
It takes a little time to set up, but after you do, it's a great way to
get backlinks really fast.
Plus, it's free. If you want to save some time, you can post a job
on Fiverr to have someone sign up to the sites for you.
Once it's set up, I recommend using it every time you have
something of interest to "share".
Each blog post you make, each article you submit, the videos you
submit and so on.
Include some posts about related pages you'd recommend others
check out.
Since most social media sites are moderated, it's always a good
idea to include other info in there as well, and not just spam them
with your links.

Profile Backlinks
Profile backlinks have taken over the backlink industry in a huge
way in the last 2 years or so.
The idea is super simple.
Sign up to sites that allow you to create a profile, and leave a link
on the profile.
Remember this rule more than any when looking for sites to post
your links on....relevancy is irrelevant.
The key to finding the right sites, is the sites that allow you to have
a profile (and link) viewed by anyone (search engines).
If you have to be signed in to see a profile, it's not the kind of link
you're looking for.
Here are some searches you can use to find forum sites:
SMF
inurl:action=profile "Additional Information:"
MyBB
"Registration Date:" "Time Spent Online:" intitle:"profile of"
ExpressionEngine
inurl:/member/ "View all posts by this member"
Vbulletin
"Powered by vBulletin"
Once you find the forums, you'll need to check and see if they allow
links by doing some quick on site research of the other members.

To do this, visit the forum, and find a members list if you can. You
want to look and see if you can view links on people's profile pages.
If you can see links on the bio, about me, messages, contact, or
any other personal pages for the members, then you can post links
there too.

When you're ready to start building links with this method, it's
important to remember that there are a LOT of different variations
of how to post you links.
For the most part, there will be a common system you'll find to get
your links...so let's take a look at how it will go...most of the time.
Here's how to post your links.
Step 1
Create an account, verify it via email if you need to, then sign in.
Step 2
Go to your Profile or Control Panel. At the top left you'll see some
links that you're looking for. It will look like this...

Step 4
This is where it can start getting tricky. You'll need to find out
where you can post your links. Sometimes you'll be asked your
url..give it. Sometimes you'll be asked for your url, and the name
of your website(anchor text). Other times you'll need to go another
route.
If you aren't directly asked for your website url, here's a few ways
you can post your link.
-leave a link on your About Me page
-put a link in your signature
-leave a publically viewable message to yourself
Step 5
View the page you left your link on to verify that the link was
successfully placed.
Here's a few tips:
When you're doing your own searches, search for forums that use
the same software. The search phrases I gave you before are how
you'll do this.
This way, the sites you find will all be the same, or really close to
the same when it comes to finding where to place your links.
After you've done 1 or 2, it becomes super easy to sign up and
leave your link. 2 to 3 minutes is all the time you'll need after you
have a few of these completed.

How To Use This Information
Knowing Is Half The Battle... was that GI Joe or Reading Rainbow?
I don't know, but I do know if you discard this ebook you'll never
get ranked.
You have two options.
#1. Go through this entire report, find websites and build
