ECOLOGY INTRO:
INTERACTIONS/INTERDEPENDENCE
Warm-Up Activity:
Q - How do local organisms affect each other’s
survival?
PROCEDURE:
1) Make a list of SPECIFIC non-domestic organisms -
including types of plants, bugs, birds or other
animals, etc. - that you have seen in the area.
2) Make connections - describe how the organisms on
your list interact with one another (try to map it
out – use descriptions and draw lines/arrows).
PartnerUp - Brainstorm ideas with your
neighbors and share specific organisms and
relationships between them (see teacher example).
Make sure your list has 10 examples minimum!
Think About It…
1) Classifying – Which organisms on your list
provide energy or nutrients to the others?
2) Predicting – What would you expect to happen if
all the plants on your list died? Explain why.
