Features of AIB Car Insurance Policy
The AIB Car Insurance policy you have purchased is arranged by AIB Insurance
Services Limited and is underwritten and administered by Hibernian Aviva General
Insurance Limited and will run for 12 months that is the period from the effective date
in the schedule to the date prior to the renewal date and any further period for which
you have paid or agreed to pay and Hibernian Aviva General Insurance Limited have
accepted your premium.
Please read your Policy booklet carefully to ensure the level of cover selected
meets your needs.
Depending on the terms, exceptions and conditions of this policy, the following
sections will apply when cover is:
Comprehensive - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
Third party fire and theft - 1 (applies only for loss or damage to your car caused
directly by fire, self -ignition, lightning, explosion, theft or attempted theft).
Features of AIB Car Insurance
This policy provides cover for:
• Section 1 – Loss or damage to the car.
• Section 1 – Windscreen damage.
• Section 1 – Loss or damage to radio, hi-fi, car phone or CB Equipment any amount
over 5% of the insured value of the car, or €650, whichever is less.
• Section 2 – Liability to third parties and legal costs. Damage to third party property
is covered up to €30,000,000.
• Section 2 – Driving of other cars is included within your policy, subject to selected
criteria being met. Please refer to your Certificate of Motor Insurance for confirmation
of whether you have this benefit. Cover is limited to Third Party Only.
• Section 3a – Medical expenses
• Section 3b – Emergency treatment
• Section 5 – Rugs, clothing and Personal Effects cover up to an amount of €130
• Section 6 – Breakdown assist cover applies.
We also provide cover for Replacement lock and cover for Fire Brigade charges up to
€1,000.

Quotation Period
Quotes given are valid for a period of 28 days.
Your right to cancel
You may cancel this policy at any time by returning your certificate of motor
insurance and windscreen disc to us. As long as no claim has happened during the
current period of insurance, we will calculate the premium for the period for which we
have insured you and refund any balance. To cancel your policy at any time, contact
the Insurance Manager, AIB Car Insurance, Block A, Galway West Business Park,
Knocknacarra, Galway. Hibernian Aviva may cancel policies at any time by giving
you, the customer, 10 days notice, by registered letter, to your last known address. If
you cancel the policy during the first year (outside the cooling off period) the refund
will be based on our short-period rates as set out in the policy booklet.
Cooling Off Period – Right of Withdrawal
You have the right to withdraw from any Hibernian Aviva policy within 14 days of the
start date of the policy without penalty and without giving any reason. The right of
withdrawal may be exercised by notice in writing, quoting your policy number. Should
this right be exercised, Hibernian Aviva will charge a pro-rata premium for the period
you are on cover. The premium cannot be refunded until the Hibernian Aviva
Certificate of Motor Insurance and Disc have been returned to us.
Period of Insurance
The period of insurance in respect of your AIB Car Insurance policy will be the period
specified by Hibernian Aviva as such in the policy Schedule/Renewal Notice.
Default
Non-payment of premium or part thereof or any monthly premium (where using Direct
Debit) or breach of certain conditions of your AIB Car Insurance policy may lead to
the policy being revoked or cancelled. The precise terms of your AIB Car Insurance
policy (and where applicable, the Direct Debit terms of the Direct Debit payment plan)
should be referred to. A copy is available on request.
Governing Law
The laws of Ireland will apply to your AIB Car Insurance policy and the Irish
courts will have jurisdiction to hear any dispute regarding it, unless otherwise stated
on the AIB Car Insurance proposal form or policy terms and conditions.
Language
Your AIB Car Insurance policy and all communications in respect of the policy will be
in English.
