The following pages provide a comprehensive listing of all child care centers, Mother’s Morning Out (MMO) programs, and pre-
schools available to children up to the age of 5 in East Cobb County. This information offers a quick review of the child care
and educational programs located right here in our East Cobb community. We have not attempted to “rank” or “rate” any cen-
ters. Readers are encouraged to thoroughly evaluate any potential caregiver. The Child Care Licensing Section of the Georgia
Department of Human Resources regulates the industry and can be very helpful. In the Pre-K column, an * after the check mark

they will sacrifice financially to place their children in the
school they trust to help build a foundation for learning
- a foundation that must last a lifetime. It’s a crucially
important decision. And there are no second chances.
For the children enrolled in kindergarten at Mt. Bethel
Christian Academy, a lifetime of learning is built on a
foundation of faith - a foundation that is uncommon and
uncompromising.
The kindergarten program at Mt. Bethel is charac-
terized by small classes where each child is known and
loved as an image bearer of Christ. With a maximum
of 18 students per class and a full-time assistant teacher
in every classroom, they are able to devote the kind of
individualized attention to each child that is simply not
possible in a typical school. The 9:1 child to adult ratio
makes for learning that is more effective, more enjoyable
and more personal.
The Mt. Bethel Christian Academy kindergarten
faculty delight in partnering closely with parents, many
of whom are guiding their firstborn in his/her first school
experience. These expert faculty know from many years
of experience that an abundance of communication is
key to a successful partnership. With teacher and parent
working together, a Mt. Bethel kindergartner is confident,
content and moves quickly towards the independence
all children need for success in school and in life.

Bethel experience, contact Rhea Adkins, Director of

Local Children to
Receive Free Books
at Whole Foods
Do you remember the warm feeling you got as a child
when an adult read to you? Share that feeling with your
child while helping Whole Foods Market at Merchant’s Walk
bring the same enjoyment to children who have never had
a book given to or purchased for them.
During the week of March 5-11, Whole Foods and the
non-profit organization Children’s Literacy of Georgia (CLG,
www.childrensliteracyga) are raising funds to buy books for
local children in need. CLG Director Dr. Joan Davey says,
“Every dollar donated will purchase a book for a child who
does not have access to books in the home.”
Story times are also scheduled; when your child attends
one, he/she will receive a free book. Story time space is
limited, so please register children in advance for one of the
following time slots:
Tuesday, March 6, 10am, children 0-4 years of age
Saturday, March 10, 11am, children 0-4 years of age
Saturday, March 10, 1pm, children 5-7 years of age
Saturday, March 10, 3pm, children 8-10 years of age
Whole Foods will be providing healthy snacks dur-
ing the event. Liz Towery, Whole Foods Marketing Team
Leader, says, “We are very excited to partner with Children’s
Literacy of Georgia to raise money to buy books for children
in need so we can give them a brighter future.”
To register your child for a story time, either stop by the
store at 1311 Johnson Ferry Road, or call Liz Towery at 678-
996-9700, ext. 304. And one more thing: when you shop at
Whole Foods during March 5-11, consider making a dona-

of 50 percent or more on local dining, entertainment and
other services from some of East Cobb’s most popular
neighborhood businesses.
As Cynthia Rozzo, EAST COBBER Founder and Publisher,
notes, “Like other East Cobb parents, I am always search-
ing for new ways to save on family-friendly stuff from
clothes and dining out to gymnastics classes. . . So, I creat-
ed a groupon-clone for East Cobbers called EAST COBBER

E-Deals, a local deal service focused on finding families the
very best deals right in our neighborhood.”
Customers can now simply and quickly register on
www.eastcobber.com, to receive weekly e-mail alerts
AND
about discount offers in their area. “This new service will
give customers easy access to some of the hottest local
discounts not found anywhere else and will help local
advertisers and businesses promote themselves effec-

tively to existing and new customers,” says Cynthia Rozzo,
Founder/Publisher of the EAST COBBER.
“Each EAST COBBER E-Deal will bring unprecedented
marketing power with our established readers,” says Ms.
Rozzo. “For our business partners, there are no upfront
costs. They simply benefit from new customers and a fan-
tastic promotional opportunity for their business.” Rozzo AROUND

adds that the E-Deals program will be promoted via
EAST COBBER’s website, weekly e-newsletter (which has
10,000 subscribers), Facebook applications and Twitter
accounts on the day deals are available.
Subscription is free and payments for deals can be
made securely online, similar to other deal sites. EAST

COBBER E-Deals seeks out the best experiences, services
and stores in the East Cobb area, negotiates incredible
deals and, then delivers them directly to the subscriber’s
inbox. Because EAST COBBER E-Deals covers a smaller geo-
graphical area than other deal sites, consumers are more
East CobbER
likely to become regular customers of the business giving
the discounts. EAST COBBER plans to run one deal each
week, but will be increasing to 3-4 deals a week in the
coming months.

BAYOU ’n BOURBON
Louisiana’s best dishes. Made mo’ better.
All day, every day, from Feb. 15 – March 26
Part romantic Italian trattoria,
part New York-style neighborhood s Michael Fortunato
bistro, East Cobb’s Caffe Fortunato is
wholly about sharing good food made with simple ingredi-
ents with family and friends.
Restaurant owner Michael Fortunato learned southern
Italian cooking at the knees of his Italian grandparents,
and he learned to hustle in the streets of Philadelphia,
where he was earning baseball card money at the tender
age of 9 by buying and reselling farm-fresh produce from a
shopping cart.
Caffe Fortunato, located in Paper Mill Village, grew
out of Fortunato’s vision for a unique, family-friendly neigh-
borhood cafe that served the Italian food of his child-
hood. His pasta is handmade. His pizzas are wood-fired.
Everything is fresh and flavorful.
“Our style is more European, and our food is lighter
than the typical Italian fare,” Fortunato said. “I don’t serve
anything in here that I wouldn’t serve to my own family.”
One of his specialties is Cioppino, a seafood stew
with fresh prawns, calamari, mussels, clams, daily catch,
tomatoes, garlic and Mediterranean herbs. He also makes
a killer Margherita pizza with San Marzano tomato sauce,
fresh mozzarella, basil and extra virgin olive oil. Creative
Loafing voted Caffe Fortunato’s pizza with truffles one of its
“Top 10 Things” in 2010.
Fortunato says great Italian cooking centers around
a handful of ingredients, spectacular in their humbleness:
Olive oil, garlic, basil, parsley, salt and pepper.
“I’ve never read a recipe,” he said. “My cooking
methods and palate are refined by years of watching my
family cook and eating their food,” he said.
