Reviews
‘Killer Elite’
This is supposed to be based
on a true story.
Right.
The same wa “300" was a true
story.
Just another Jason Statham
film for those of you who found
the plot of “Transporter 3" way
too complex.
I love action movies, but not if
they start by assuming I’m stu-
pid. I don’t care whether this
started as a true story or not, now
it’s just “Death Wish 4" or “Un-
der Siege 2" — with a bigger
budget and stars that used to be
able to act, like Clive Owen and
Robert De Niro.
Statham and De Niro should
have taken a note from Jackie
Chan and stopped making films
when they became a living car-
toon of themselves. This is high
art for pro-wrestling fans.
‘Abduction’
This is being billed as a “thrill-
er,” though it’s just an action
flick. OK, yes, I love action
flicks, but this is James Bond for
the Justin Bieber crowd.

As it is, the plot is so convo-
luted you can actually hear the
audience say things like “What?
Why?” and “Oh, come on!”
For the teen girls, wolfboy

boyfriends, there’s a lot of action
so they can fantasize about being
the hero.
‘Dolphin Tales’
This film fits into a terrific
genre: the kids movie that’s also
worth watching by adults.
It’s as close to a true story as a
movie can be and it isn’t overly
sentimental — it’s the film that
“Free Willy” wanted to be.
If you have kids, it makes for a
great family outing. If you don’t
have kids, well, there’s not much
else at the theater this week, so
just don’t be seen going in.

Why did you get
into tattooing?
I wanted to ever since
I was a kid.
How did you learn

SHY WEDDING
COUPLES
1076702
Not all couples are in love with the idea of
being the center of attention on their wed-
ding day. Some couples are simply uncom-
fortable in front of crowds both big and
small. However, such couples who are
about to walk down the aisle might want to
take a cue from Prince William and his now
princess bride, Catherine Middleton. In
what many called the social event of the
year and some called the most talked about
wedding since Prince William's late moth-
er, Diana, walked down the aisle roughly
30 years earlier, the prince and his bride
stayed cool under pressure despite the
knowledge that their wedding was being
broadcast all over the world. The Nielsen
Co., which monitors television viewer
habits across the globe, reported that, in
America alone, 22.76 million viewers
watched the ceremony as it was taking
place between the hours of 6 a.m. and 7:15
a.m. EDT on Friday, April 29. That viewing
was spread across 11 different networks,
including ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, BBC
America, andE! Entertainment. But broad-
cast networks were not the only ones to
reap the rewards of what came to be known
as the Royal Wedding. E! Online reported
its 23.6 million page views the Friday of
the wedding was the most the site had ever
garnered, while ABCNews.com, no
stranger to big news stories itself, saw its
online traffic reach its highest point since
the 2008 presidential election.
BICYCLE USE
A report in Bicycle Retailer found that in the
United States less than one trip in 100 is by
bicycle. Americans rely more heavily on their
cars for daily trips. If that ratio were raised to
one and one half trips per 100, which is less
than one bike trip every two weeks for the
average person, the U.S. would save more
than 462 million gallons of gasoline per year.
That would mean one day each year that the
U.S. would not need any foreign oil! People
1077350
can think about riding their bicycles instead of
using a car or bus for a work commute. It's
excellent exercise, and it can rev up the body
in advance of the work day.
