How has the teenage music market in the Uk changed in the last few
years?
The teenage music market has changed a lot within the past few years,
especially according to the ways in which we purchase music and also the
ways in which we listen to it.
Many teenagers today are familiar with downloading software’s such as
Lime wire and Ares. These sights allow their customers to download
music and videos for free, however many people see it as ‘sharing’ files.
As we all know this is illegal however many people see it as if you can
get it for free why not? This effects many top labels and artists as the
money they should be receiving from Cd sales and downloads are
decreasing as people are getting them for free. A small majority of artists
have decided to let their fan bases pay as little as 1p for theirs albums,
however fans can still pay current street prices if that dedicated.
Even though being caught using these software’s could result in a
criminal record this doesn’t effect many of its users. The majority of
people using these software’s are teenagers and this is because of the
ways in which we listen to our music now as we can have mp3 players
which can play over 30.000 songs. In recent surveys 92% of teenagers
said they have owned an mp3 player and 63% illegally download. So this
just goes to prove that the current generation will download and face the
consequences if it means getting free music.
