CDU Climate Survey… Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Why run a staff climate A climate survey It is a great way for management to
survey? have a conversation with all our people. It can be used
across the entire organisation, by individual teams,
projects and business units to facilitate continuous
improvement. And so it gives everyone a chance to voice
opinions about how Charles Darwin University is
performing, and will help us recognise strengths and
identify areas for development.
What will the climate The results of the climate survey will provide a great deal

engagement. It will also give us baseline data with which
we can measure our progress and performance over time.
There is also some critical information we can gauge from
your answers that will help us identify turnover, safety
and legal risks for individuals and teams.
Is the climate survey Yes, the survey is really anonymous. All answers will be
really anonymous? sent directly to Voice Project, a research and consulting
company linked with Macquarie University. The survey is
anonymous, and results will only be reported for groups
with 10 or more respondents. Answers from individual
surveys will NOT be reported.
This makes it very important to encourage your team to
participate also—if there are less than 10 people in your
team, then your managers will agree on how best to
combine with other teams in order to achieve some
meaningful results.
Voice Project and Macquarie University may also use the
raw data in research and benchmarking but at no time will
any individual or organisation be directly or indirectly
identified in the published research.
How difficult is it to It’s really easy to participate in the survey and have your
participate in the input to the results. Simply click on the link at the top of
climate survey? this information sheet. This link will take you to the Voice
Project Website where you will find another link that will
take you directly to the online survey. The survey is
anonymous and will take most people about 20 minutes to
complete.
You can fill out some of the survey and return later to do
the rest—but you must enter a password the first time
you go into the survey in order to retrieve any answers
you have already given. Once you have the password set
up you can enter the survey as many times as you need in
order to finalise. You can also review and edit your
answers before you finalise.
The survey closes on Friday, 2 October, so put aside some
time to have your say before then.
When will we see the Once all responses have been analysed, the aggregate
results of the survey? results will be delivered by Voice Project—anticipated for
late November. The Executive planning workshop in early
December will consider the results in full and will be
developing relevant actions from the survey’s evidence
base. The Vice-Chancellor will then release the results to
all staff and provide an outline of any actions emerging
from the work of the Executive.
