Earth’s Surface Lab Experiment
1/31/12
We’ve started our 3rd Unit in Science, Earth’s Crust. In order to investigate the
surface of the Earth, we participated in a lab that would model the ratio of water
to land on Earth.
As with all experiments, safety comes first! The students were excited to put on
the protective eye glasses because they felt like real scientists!
Here are some pictures from our experiment!
Raghad, our cute scientist, is ready to start the experiment!
Mohammed and Jihan are carefully measuring the water, while William is happy with his pour!
Ghadah and Anas display an act of great teamwork!
Hana takes a break while Mansour carefully reads the measurement.
Taki, Hana, and Mamdouh are also working together very well!
Anas and Lama observe their final results. They note that Earth’s surface is 3 parts water, and 1 part
land.
Through the completion of this lab, we were able to see that Earth’s surface is
MOSTLY water. This surprised many of us!
