High School Diploma Programs Application Applications can take up to two business weeks to process. Availability of classes is subject to when you submit your application. For best results, submit your application at least two weeks prior to the beginning of new student registration. Courses can be used toward an Associate degree if courses meet degree requirements. Qualifying courses for High School Completion may be authorized for a tuition reduction rate. To qualify students must be age 21 or older and have credit on a high school transcript for grade 9 prior to the 2004-2005 school year. If you meet the requirements listed above, please submit the following with this application: Completed SPSCC Application (apply online at www.spscc.ctc.edu or in building 25 at Enrollment Services) Placement Test Scores showing placement in Sentence Skills, Reading and Math Official High School Transcripts (to be official they must be in a sealed envelope from the high school or district office) Current SPSCC quarterly class schedule (if you have already started classes at the college) Unofficial SPSCC Transcript (if you have already completed classes at the college) Official transcript from any other institutions (if you have completed classes at another college) DEGREE COMPLETION PROGRAM Description: Students have the option to complete an Associate degree at the college and then request a state issued high school diploma from SPSCC. Students must be 21 or older to request a high school diploma but may start Associate degree requirements at any time. Students must pay full tuition on all courses and may be required to take pre-college level courses in order to meet degree requirements. Degree Completion is not eligible for a tuition reduction rate. Students must pay full tuition on courses. OVER AGE 18 If you are over the age of 18 you do not need to submit this application. Follow the steps to enroll as a regular SPSCC student. Complete the SPSCC Application (apply online at www.spscc.ctc.edu or in building 25 at Enrollment Services) If applying for financial aid students must have a GED or pass the ability to benefit test UNDER AGE 18 Complete the SPSCC Application (apply online at www.spscc.ctc.edu or in building 25 at Enrollment Services) If applying for financial aid students must have a GED or pass the ability to benefit test Submit Placement Test Scores showing placement in Sentence Skills, Reading and Math Submit the Special Enrollment / High School Release form For Office Use Only: Received Processed Approved Notified: Denied Reason: High School Diploma Programs Process Complete the form on front with all required documentation and turn in to Enrollment Services in building 25. Completed applications will be evaluated by SPSCC staff. Below is what you can expect for each of the programs. High School Completion We will assess your completed credit toward state graduation guidelines. Please keep in mind that your original high school graduation requirements may not be the same as the state requirements. Once the evaluation is completed you will be notified of your remaining credit. You can view your progress toward your high school diploma online through Degree Audit. Once you have received notification of your evaluation you will come to New Student Advising to register for classes. You can view the new student advising calendar online or pick up a copy in building 25. In order to complete your diploma you will be required to complete at least 15 credits even if the credit needed to complete diploma requirements is less than that. Only those classes needed toward completion of the diploma will be eligible for the tuition reduction. Any additional credit needed to complete at least 15 credits will be charged at the full tuition rate. Students must have a cumulative 2.0 GPA upon completion of classes in order for the diploma to be granted. Degree Completion (under 18) You will need to make an appointment to meet with an Educational Planner to discuss college readiness and degree requirements. You can make an appointment online through the advising web page. You should have a degree path selected. If you are unsure of which degree you want to complete, go online to our web site to look at the complete list of degree options. Once you have met with an Educational Planner you will go through New Student Advising to register for classes. You can view the new student advising calendar online or pick up a copy in building 25. Students must complete all degree requirements with a cumulative 2.0 GPA in order for the degree to be granted. Degree Completion (over18) If you are over the age of 18 you do not need to complete any additional paperwork. You will register for classes as a new student through New Student Advising. You can view the new student advising calendar online or pick up a copy in building 25. Once you are within two quarters of completing your degree you will fill out the graduation application and request evaluation toward your associate degree and your high school diploma. Students must complete all degree requirements with a cumulative 2.0 GPA in order for the degree to be granted.
