Charles Edwin Training Procedures
Overview
Training will take place at the beginning of June 1998. Julie Wilson will set up a date with the software developer of her
choice. During Phase 3, the team will gather all data needed to be entered into the system. If installation occurs before May
5th, the data will be entered in time for the training set to begin in June. If this does not occur, Julie and the software
developer will organize the data entry process, as she would like to avoid parallel installation. If possible, she would like all
data to be entered before the system goes into full operation in the store.
Direct and indirect costs to Julie Wilson are not a major concern. Julie and Shannon will receive most of the training, and
therefore loss of productivity of other workers is minimized. All contending software developers offer free training and support
for various amounts of time. Julie will be able to use Quick Reference Guides and “just in time” support from 800 numbers to
add to any part of the training that may be unclear or difficult to understand.
The contact for requirements and key-end user of the system, Julie Wilson, has been working side-by-side with the team to
select a software program that suits her needs. There will be formal training for Julie and her manager, Shannon, for all
modules of the program. Regular employees of the store will receive only point-of-sale and receiving inventory training.
Since our client has limited system knowledge, our goal is to make sure that the training procedures and documents are
simple. We would like for Julie and her employees to know exactly how to operate the functions within the system while
staying away from technical aspects as much as possible. This objective can be realized because all contending software
companies either have system technicians in Austin or have the capability to log in remotely to Julie’s system and fix any
problems.
