Urban Clothing Personifies Casual Fashion
Description

Urban clothing represents something unique in that it comes from the streets, but has been adopted by haute couture. It represents a sector that mainly pertains to the young and is indicative of the hip-hop generation. This style is based out of cultures based in cities such as Miami, New York, Chicago, Jersey, California bay area and a host of other fashionably knowledgeable cultures. Each city brings its own flair. Urban style has managed to reach other continents, becoming well known in sectors of Japan, Africa and other global nations.

In the early years, urban clothing was identified with artists such as Run DMC and Salt N Pepa, and Big Daddy Kane. During this period, asymmetrical haircuts, snazzy caps, bomber jackets, large pieces of gold, fashioned into chains and bamboo earrings, and expensive tennis shoes were all the rage. Those aware wore brand-name sunglasses, fat laces, sheepskin coats, and bally shoes.

Once clothing and jewels became a normal part of urban music, there was passionate run of young people invading stores looking for what artists were rapping and singing about on the radio. That behavior is still prevalent. However, the manner is much more concentrated.

Those same artists of the earlier generation, spurred on a new generation of artists that not only sing or rap about the fashion, they have based clothing empires on those same lyrics. To look at today's urban clothing is find a music producer's latest jacket on a department store rack or singer's cute mini in a boutique. It is about being current, ever changing, and fashionable. The hip-hop clothing industry has only grown.

Some sports labels have millions of feet wearing its shoes all due to famous athletes. The many colors and designs of tennis shoes show how unique one is, without losing the cohesive nature of urban style.

Urban clothing represents something unique in that it comes from the streets,

but has been adopted by haute couture. It represents a sector that mainly

pertains to the young and is indicative of the hip-hop generation. This style is

based out of cultures based in cities such as Miami, New York, Chicago,

Jersey, California bay area and a host of other fashionably knowledgeable

cultures. Each city brings its own flair. Urban style has managed to reach

other continents, becoming well known in sectors of Japan, Africa and other

global nations.

In the early years, urban clothing was identified with artists such as Run

DMC and Salt N Pepa, and Big Daddy Kane. During this period,

asymmetrical haircuts, snazzy caps, bomber jackets, large pieces of gold,

fashioned into chains and bamboo earrings, and expensive tennis shoes were

all the rage. Those aware wore brand-name sunglasses, fat laces, sheepskin

Those same artists of the earlier generation, spurred on a new generation of

artists that not only sing or rap about the fashion, they have based clothing

empires on those same lyrics. To look at today's urban clothing is find a

music producer's latest jacket on a department store rack or singer's cute mini

Some sports labels have millions of feet wearing its shoes all due to famous

athletes. The many colors and designs of tennis shoes show how unique one

is, without losing the cohesive nature of urban style.

Transitioning from the eighties to the nineties, urban fashion was seen in

biker shorts and colorful mini dresses. Men wore baggy pants and athletic

under shirts and those on the west coast were proud to sport work pants and

plaid shirts. From this period came a slew of people in which urban style

portrayed living it up, whether one had the means or not. This gave way to an

era of excess.

From there came a period where excess ruled. It was not uncommon to see a

rich lifestyle portrayed. High-priced watches and expensive champagne was

not an unusual find. It mattered not if it was affordable. Strip clubs became

normal cultural affairs and the style made its way onto the streets. Modified

versions of stripper wear can still be seen on today's streets.

Some in the hip-hop culture have started wearing dapper hats, but it is not

unusual for heads to be covered by do-rags, instead. A do-rag tends to

represent its wearer in a grittier light. Urban wear is brash, in your face

flavor. Not everyone has to go all out. Add flair to a classic suit by stacking

miniature chains over a white t-shirt. Take the classic men's suit and wear it

with a pair of clean, white tennis shoes. Represent your favorite basketball

team with throwback jerseys and keep it real in urban clothing.
