From Washington, Route 18N to Florence. Turn right at the traffic light onto Old Route 22E. Go
approximately 3.5 miles. Watch for Hall Rd. Go past Hall Rd and past 3 houses on left. Turn onto
dirt road just past the 3rd house. Turn right onto next dirt road (Do not go straight!) Continue on to
horse trailer parking area.

Let’s All Congratulate TAMMY SCHWEITZER and “BIG” BEN , also former MVTR member
Paula Mattes for being selected to participate in the Extreme Cowboy Race, as seen on RDF-TV.
They were selected out of 2300 applicants. The finals will be held at the Equine Affaire in
Columbus, OH. The race will be held Saturday April 14 & Sunday 15, 2007. Here is the link for

Please make note… there will be a pony ride June 9th @ the Panhandle
trail in McDonald. Billie Verdu will have more information at the April
Meeting. Please keep in mind, volunteers will be needed.
For those who are working the JTR, there will be JTR meeting
PRIOR to the April Meeting, at 7pm. If you plan on riding the JTR,
you are NOT permitted to attend the JTR meeting.

The Mountain Valley Trail Riders in conjunction with the SW District Penna. Arabian
Horse Assoc. will be holding a benefit trail ride sometime July 15th to help the family of
Alyssa Weekley. In August, 2005, Alyssa was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a form of
cancer that occurs in infants and children. Alyssa is the daughter of Sam and Paula
Weekley or West Union, West Virginia, who are active in the Arabian community and
clients at Empress Arabians. Alyssa has lost one kindney and recently had a tumor
removed on the remaining kidney. The Weekley family is struggling with medical
expenses, some of the treatments Alyssa has received are considered "experimental" by
the insurance company and are not covered. Travel to hospitals and treatment centers and
loss of income while traveling for treatments have been a difficulty as well. Please visit

family and their struggles. The time and location of our benefit ride will be announced.

Parade season is just around the corner…. The parades so far this year are:

These are PAID parades. Please remember we need a minimum of 10 horses for our
parade unit to get paid.

Washington County Parks & Recreation is holding a “special” clean up at Mingo Park,

Saturday April 21st. They are looking for volunteers to help clear out the “tire graveyard”. If
