I. Welcome-Andrew
A. Student Recruiting
- a reminder to encourage your firms to recruit honors students. It was suggested that the office send a
letter to alumni in January to encourage them to do the same.
B. Join a committee-
for those that are not currently on a sub-committee, they are encouraged to contact Adam or the chair for a
committee to join
II. Program Update and News- Dr. Cox
-Both of UT’s Rhodes scholarship Nominees are BHP Students
-BHP students are nominees for Mitchell and Marshall Scholarships
-3 of the 6 finalist for the Outstanding Student Award across UT were honors students, with one of them
winning
-New elective class for seniors will be taught for the first time this Spring. Taught by Matt Landry ’64 and
John Highbarger, retired senior manager from Accenture
III. Alumni Relations-Boris
Bulletin board has been set up for alumni to discuss different aspects of alumni relations.

He has taken a marketing based approach to analyzing our alumni relations efforts and divided it into four
main areas:
1. creation phase: how to convert passive alumni into active alumni. Using class reps to update
information.
2.providing value: what is the incentive to stay active?
3. support from active and passive members: financial support
4. personal thanks for support-3 levels (from Dr.Cox/Boris)

A. Area Events
Dallas event was hosted in October, Houston scheduled for this week and NYC for December
B. Alumni Mentor Program
The program is going very well, over 115 alumni have been paired with students with an additional 40
serving as resource mentors. This program is a great way to get alumni back involved with the
program.
IV. Alumni Recruiting-Crissy and Marcie
A. Dallas/Houston Events
Over capacity expected for both events. Great reception by students to these first time events.
B. Alumni Notes
Approximately 10 alumni have been writing personal notes to our top 50 perspective students
C. Admissions/Mitte Scholarship Update
Admissions numbers are up compared to this time last year
Mitte scholarship applications have been received for the continuing students
D. Other initiatives
V. Resources-Craig
A. Annual fund
All BHP alumni, except larger donors pulled out for excellence fund, will receive business honors
specific messaging this year rather that the general UT message. We have been working with the
development office to develop this campaign. Letters were sent this week, with phone calls to begin on
Dec. 1st. This audience numbers about 1100.
B. Excellence Fund
1. Alumni nominated by AC-
the total number of people in this pool totals ~170 with 5 AC members participating in solicitation.
2. Alumni Donor meetings
meeting scheduled in Houston this week with 6 donors
VI. Communication-Scott and Adam
New marketing materials have been created and printed and were mailed to AC members
VII. Symposium on Business Ethics- February 8, 2003 10am-2pm
Key note speaker: Sherron Watkins, former Enron Executive
Other speakers: Dean Powers, UT Law School; Tom Ward, Managing Partner, Bear Stearns NYC; Paul
Woodruff, Plan II Director
