1. Welcome (Crissy)
2. Overview of the Program and upcoming events (Dr. Cox/Shelley)
Admissions Update:
o 170/808 applications granted admission
o 150 alumni interviewers participated
Discover BHP (formerly known as the Austin Prospective Members
Conference): April 14. This event has been revamped to keep competitive
advantage over top universities with similar events. It has expanded to a
day long event. Hoping to have ~80 students at Discover BHP. The
program will include alumni panels.
Dallas and Houston PMCs: April 15. If you are interested in attending,
please let Shelley know.
Junior Intern/Alumni Networking Events: Dates TBA this summer. Held in
Austin, Dallas, Houston, and NYC
3. Update on recent initiatives (Crissy)
Coffee Chats: Hosted 2 coffee talks this spring. Dominic Sung attended one.
Neither event was well attended we may need to re-evaluate this one.
We will coordinate with Career Services to determine when alums will be
in town for recruiting. Class visits and/or publicity through professors
were also ideas mentioned as ways to make this program successful.
Alumni Graduate School Database: Just developed an online survey form to
distribute to all alumni in the next week or so. This will allow alums to enter
their information and let the BHP know if they would like the info posted on
our web site for current students and alumni.
About 1800 alums are currently listed in the database. Shelley plans to
send out an e-mail to those alumni already identified in graduate
programs. Santos, our Communications and Marketing Director, is will
help us explore options for establishing an online platform for alums.
LinkedIn and Yahoo for groups were mentioned as alternatives.
Marketing programs at high schools: We discussed ways to improve the
BHP brand by sending marketing kits to top high schools (including alma
maters of our current BHP students). The BHP is already experimenting
with contacting high school counselors in the state and will continue to
explore ways to market the program out of state.
4. Alumni Involvement
Area Event update (Shelley/Steve Carlson)
o LA happy hour – 10 alums attended
o Boston happy hour – 5 alums attended
Senior BHP student involvement with Area Chairs (Steve)
o Dallas/NYC reps chosen. Need rep for Houston area.
