Since its inception, FiveCurrents has produced a global gathering of leaders committed to
taking action against the world’s most pressing problems at the Clinton Global Initiative.
OUR MISSIO N
We a re storytellers, who c apture the power of human
e m o tion to c reate deep and lasting impressions.
On the 2nd of October 2009, FiveCurrents created the strategic final
presentation securing Rio de Janeiro the right to host the 2016
3
Olympic Games—and Rio will never be the same.
FIVECURREN TS
DELIVERS STRATEGIC CREATIVE
Every FiveCurrents project begins with a strategy—an expectation of the experience that a live audience
or consumer will encounter, with a goal of how it will transform them. We then sculpt a fully customized
creative solution to achieve that goal, employing the strategy to deliver optimal impact, whether it’s to
forge a meaningful brand connection or create a memory of a lifetime.
While our team has been creating emotional impact for more than 25 years, none of our projects are
alike. They have ranged from six-figure efforts to more than $100 million live campaigns. We keep the
nucleus of our company lean so we can adapt teams to the unique demands of each project. This holds
true when called upon to manage a professional staff as large as 3,000 for one of the biggest events in
the world, or when asked to deliver one-on-one perspective on a client’s brand strategy.
FiveCurrents and its senior principals have worked together to produce LiveCity Vancouver 2010, the
Clinton Global Initiative, Reveillon Copacabana New Year’s Celebration for Rio de Janeiro, the Disney-
land 50th Anniversary, the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Bid, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies at the
XV Pan American Games, and all creative and ceremonies for the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic and
Paralympic Winter Games. In addition to our ongoing work producing the Clinton Global Initiative,
FiveCurrents is proud to have been recently named as a producer of the Guadalajara 2011 Pan Ameri-
can Games Ceremonies and London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Ceremonies.
While every project has been delivered flawlessly on time and on budget, emotion is the key for
FiveCurrents. Whether working with a brand to create a more meaningful relationship with its custom-
ers, or creating a mega-spectacle that will define a nation, the ability to connect with our audiences
emotionally is at the root of our success. Our goal is to leave audiences with a deep and lasting
impression as they walk away from a FiveCurrents-sculpted experience.
The Olympic Cauldron was designed as an iconic representation of the Salt Lake 2002 Games Theme, Light the Fire Within. 4
STRATEGIES AND STORIES Every FiveCurrents project begins with a
story and a well-developed strategy to connect
emotionally with a targeted audience. We believe
that lasting impressions are always made on an
emotional level, and our ultimate goal is that our
projects become transformative experiences.
We want every viewer to come away with a
deeper understanding and connection to a brand
or event, and to internalize a moving story. We
have worked with the largest brands and events
in the world, and our greatest strength is our
ability to tell their stories in a fresh, engaging and
memorable way.

To celebrate the milestone of an American icon,
the team at FiveCurrents developed the brand
identity and environmental graphics program for
Disneyland’s 50th Anniversary. A Mickey 50
logo was woven through iconic attractions and
drove every aspect of the park’s creative, from
merchandise design and food containers to the
colors of flowers in the park.
We also invited guests from the past five decades
to send in pictures of their favorite Disneyland
memories. These were assembled into giant
photo-mosaics throughout the park, bringing
history to life.

‘Disneyland is your land,’ I’m not sure if he truly

the park as their own.”

Bringing the Olympic Games to a new continent is
a potent selling point, but to make that argument
heard, FiveCurrents crafted a compelling story
of Rio and Brazil to convince the International
Olympic Committee that “Rio is Ready.” Brazil’s
economy was strong and growing rapidly; and
from the country’s president to the city’s mayor,
leaders were deeply committed to staging the
Games. Once this case was made, FiveCurrents
could then harness the passion of Brazil in an
emotional final presentation to bring the Games to
South America for the first time.
FiveCurrents’ developed the bid’s overall presentation
strategy; produced a series of cinematic bid films;
sculpted presentations worldwide; and produced the
IOC’s four-day Evaluation Commission visit to Rio de
Janeiro. On the 2nd of October 2009, we created the
final presentation for the international broadcast of the
Olympic Congress, where the 2016 Olympic Games
were awarded to Rio de Janeiro.

The team at FiveCurrents brought the Olympic and
Paralympic story to life in Salt Lake. Responsible
for the overall creative, branding and ceremonies,
FiveCurrents’ principles created an immersive
environment, designed for broadcast, that shared
the Games theme, “Light the Fire Within,” across all
branding, look, advertising, film, publications and
ceremonies of both the Olympic and
Paralympic Winter Games.
To truly celebrate the Fire Within—and the
Olympians who inspired the world—the team at
FiveCurrents created Olympic Medals Plaza. At its
heart was the stage where Olympians received their
medals and the hottest bands performed for the
crowd. High above, a cityscape of towering images
looked down on the plaza, reminding us to “Light
the Fire Within.”

C E REM O N IES FiveCurrents has produced numerous Olympic
and multisport ceremonies and its principals have
been involved in ten Olympic Games. FiveCurrents’
Scott Givens was awarded the Olympic Order for his
work on the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games
and went on to write the International Olympic
Committee’s Technical Manual on Ceremonies.
We understand how to best integrate and
collaborate with organizing committees to help
them develop and fulfill their creative vision. We
appreciate their constraints, stakeholders and
inner workings. With our experience in Olympic and
live-event production during the past three decades,
we have developed a flexible infrastructure and
tried-and-tested methodologies to enable maximum
creative expression and assured delivery of these
complex projects.

G ATH E RI NG S Ultimately, balance between strategy and
creativity is what makes a project successful
in generating an emotional connection, and
drives long-term affinities and positive memories.
Understanding a brand’s strategy or an event’s
purpose is at the core of developing a creative
execution that is authentic and resonant.
Our success comes from our ability to connect
with, understand, and communicate with
clients, and ultimately, their audiences. We aim
to create magical, once-in-a-lifetime experi-
ences at every event we produce, whether a
high-level gathering for 1,500 heads of state
and CEOs, or an annual corporate meeting.

When President Clinton decided to host a conference
to commit governments, NGOs, foundations and the
private sector to action on the world’s most pressing
challenges, FiveCurrents sculpted a summit where
participants make a commitment to action as a
condition of attendance. To date, more than $57
billion has been committed; 60 million tons of CO2
emissions eradicated; 12 million more people have
safe drinking water; and 10 million children have
access to a better education. FiveCurrents created
the first Clinton Global Initiative in 2005 and
continues to produce the Clinton Foundation’s
events under long-term contact. To do our part at
CGI, FiveCurrents designed the broadcast stage and
graphics to be used year-after-year (reducing waste).

to perform Aaron Copland’s Rodeo, in sync with a
video montage of the great Westerns filmed in
Colorado, including How the West Was Won,
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, True Grit
and City Slickers.
The second act featured talented young dancers
who used their bodies to recreate iconic silhouettes

VM World 2007. The General Sessions provided
VMware management the opportunity to introduce
their newest virtualization technology. Through
the use of giant wide-screen technology, VM World
capitalized on the rich branding package of each
conference, which resulted in a consistent look and
feel while providing the capability for
maximum content delivery. Original video
content was produced to open each conference
and support keynote presentations and screen
animations. Complete webcasts of each session
