   Multimedia is a plural word:
        Multi=many
        Medium
             Every medium has a spatial dimension and a dimension in time:
                   Spatial: 2 (paper) or 3 (holography)
                   Time: mediums can change in time (films, music) or be constant (pictures) /time-
                    independent/
        Media=things used for communication
   In general it involves:
        Written press (newspaper)
        Radio
        Television
        Videos, CD, DVD
        Services of the Internet
                   Multimedia
   It’s very important in interactive multimedia that
    elements have to be connected by coherency in
    meaning, and users have to be able to navigate
    in menus by them.
   This non-linear system of connections is called
    hypertext or hypermedia.
                  Multimedia
   Multimedia is the use of computers to present
    text, graphics, video, animation, and sound in an
    integrated way. Multimedia applications were,
    until the mid-90s, uncommon due to the
    expensive hardware required. With increases in
    performance and decreases in price, however,
    multimedia is now commonplace.

     analogue-digital transformation
     editing digital elements

     presenting the result in analogue or digital form

   Nowadays multimedia is an efficient appliance
    to get information. Multimedia applications,
    encyclopaedias are more and more widespread.
   By spread of networks Internet web servers
    provide access to images and sound as well as
    normal texts.
                    Multimedia
   Multimedia can develop lexical knowledge too
    by demonstration. For example:
      we can listen to the works of musicians, not just
      read about them,
     Historical events can be watched on films
                  Multimedia
   Computer is the most important device of
    multimedia.
   Computer provides interactivity: by connections
    built in by programmers users can browse in
    information.
   Information is provided by pictures, sound and
    interactive interfaces.
                   Multimedia
   Manufacturers’ products are very different, and
    at first there was no standardization, that caused
    a decline in development.
   First agreement: MPC1 (Multimedia Personal
    Computer) in 1990 – minimal requirements of
    multimedia PCs.
   Computers fulfilling these requirements can get
    the MPC logo.
   Later: MPC2, MPC3
