MAKE THE POINT: The Heart of the 5.0
Enthusiast Mustang customers will appreciate additional details behind the features giving the
all-new 5.0 DOHC V8 engine the balance of power AND fuel efficiency.
        • Ti-VCT rotates the camshafts — two per each cylinder head — to advance or retard the cam timing
to maximize engine power and fuel efficiency based on several measures including throttle input
          from the driver
        • During the engine development stage, powertrain engineers went to the Ford Racing engineers,
started with a proven high-lift camshaft profile and then tuned it for the four-valve-per-cylinder
          heads on the 5.0
        • Extensive use of CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) and dynamometer testing was performed to
fine-tune the camshaft profile to maximize power and fuel efficiency
        • The all-new aluminum DOHC cylinder heads feature a compact high-performance roller finger
valvetrain design leaving more space for high-flow ports for free-breathing performance
        • The all-new cylinder head structure was designed to support higher cylinder pressures and
includes cross-flow cooling for sustained high engine rpm use
        • The all-new aluminum engine block has optimized oil windage and drainback performance to help
maintain proper engine oiling under high rpm and high cornering use — conditions commonly
          seen at “track-day” events
        • Piston cooling jets help improve oil warm-up and help maintain cooler piston temperatures
        • Specially designed tubular exhaust headers were developed to maximize exhaust pulse separation
and improve flow. The headers and crossover balance tube not only help make more power, but
are key to the terrific sound coming from the dual exhaust outlets

Fail-safe Cooling System Aggressive Deceleration Fuel Shut-off

• If the engine overheats, it automatically • Helps maximize fuel efficiency
switches from 8-cylinder operation to alternating • Temporarily interrupts fuel delivery and consumption

• The vehicle operates at limited engine power, maintaining normal engine operation

a service facility running at a low, more fuel-efficient operating level
• The distance the vehicle can travel depends on whenever possible
load, outside temperature and road conditions • Normal fuel delivery resumes when the vehicle
reaches a low speed or when the driver accelerates

• Allows the camshafts to operate the intake and exhaust fuel shut-off technology with the V6 and V8
valves at different times in the combustion cycle, based powertrain operation

• Outstanding efficiency under low load conditions like
  idling or highway cruising
• Remarkable power when accelerating

MAKE THE POINT: Easy Fuel Capless Fuel Filler

Be sure to fully understand the functionality of the Easy Fuel capless fuel filler and present the benefits during a
demonstration drive and at delivery. Show the customer how it’s different than a traditional system, including the
fuel door seal. In addition, be sure to show the customer where the emergency funnel is located in the vehicle — it is
stored near the spare tire jack — since the funnel is required for the customer to add fuel from a portable container.

customers is to use a shoebox analogy. A shoebox with Mustang engineers designed body joints and rocker
