supporting and mobilizing an override effort to restore and
stabilize ALL of our town services.
Senior Center – Closed
Station Two – Closed
Funding for Council on Aging slashed to $20k
Funding for Park & Recreation slashed to $20k
$25 Field Maintenance Fee likely to rise to $75 - $100 per child
per sport
2 police officers per shift on patrol
Highway reduced staff from 14 to 5 workers and unable to
maintain normal street – drain and other issues. Not to mention
the Park & Recreation duties they’ve been mandated to handle.
Library – potentially lose aid funding
Residential property values continue to plummet
High School on warning status – probation in the immediate
future
Police: Funding for civilian dispatchers and records clerk;
enables one additional officer to patrol streets of Abington
Fire: Open Station 2 and all shifts return to 5 men
Highway: Hire back four of the nine previously laid-off workers
Library: Funding for minimum level of service to maintain state
library aid funding
Council on Aging: Restore partial salary for COA Director;
maintain programs, provides funding for utilities and expenses
Park & Recreation: Partially restore service – $75 field
maintenance fees eliminated
Schools: Restore HS programs to remove NEASC warning
status; programs restored to middle schools
