A Diagnostic Equipment Fair will be held at each campus according to the schedule below. At this event you will be able to acquire much of the diagnostic equipment that is required for your physical diagnosis course(s). Manufacturer representatives will provide a short, but very helpful presentation at the beginning of your campus’ scheduled event so please arrive a few minutes early. After the presentation there will be sample demonstration equipment available for you to evaluate. This equipment is fundamental to the practice of healthcare. Please come prepared to listen, learn and ask questions so that you can make an educated decision. After all, this equipment is designed to last decades.

How can I determine if it meets the minimum requirements? A – Either the faculty or the manufacturer representatives on site can inspect your items to make sure they meet requirements. --------------------------------------Q - Is there an extra charge for shipping and handling? What is a Diagnostic Set?
A diagnostic set (aka ‘oto/ophthalmoscope set’) is a pre-configured package of handheld instruments and a power handle contained in a form-fitting protective case. A diagnostic set consists of an otoscope (used for looking into ears), an ophthalmoscope (used for looking into eyes) and a rechargeable handle to provide power to illuminate the instrument heads.

Power Handles (included in above sets):
The silver handle (or MC) is a traditional Nickel Cadmium (NiCad) rechargeable handle that offers 55 minutes of on time and plugs directly into the wall to charge. This handle comes with a converter ring that will allow the use of standard C-cell batteries…just in case you forget to charge it up or you are at a location where traditional wall outlets are not available. -----------------------------------The black handle (or MS) is the new Lithium Ion ‘Smart’ handle that offers 110 minutes of on time at half the weight of the silver handle. It also has a low battery indicator light to let you know when there’s approximately 15 minutes left.

There’s more to stethoscopes than you might imagine. Your stethoscope will be your most personal diagnostic instrument and will be with you at all times throughout your career. When shopping for a stethoscope, more than just the name should be considered.

There will be three industry-leading cardiology-grade stethoscopes available at the fair. They’re very similar in cost but vary in features and warranty coverage. You will find that S1 and S2 offer greater customization and flexibility to change between adult and pediatrics. Keep in mind that the most important factors in purchasing a stethoscope are COMFORT and SOUND QUALITY. Everybody’s ears are different. Our ear canals are shaped differently and we all hear sound frequencies differently. Don’t buy a stethoscope without first taking it on a test drive.
