               Purpose
The purpose is to share the results of the
  Northern Adelaide Region (NAR) NAPLAN
  and school results for 2010 in order to:
• Celebrate outcomes and achievements
• Develop recommendations for future
  planning including specific outcomes for
  comprehension improvement.

  In order to
achieve these
standards and

In order to meet this Standard (Based on 2010 data)
At Year 1: Currently for non-ATSI only 47 out of
2169 (2.17%) reach this standard. For ATSI only
9 out of 111 (8.1%) are reaching this standard.
At year 2: Currently for non-ATSI 1282 out of
2152 (59.6%) reach this standard. For ATSI only
41 out of 102 (40.2%) are reaching this standard.

2010 data shows the current achievement standard for each year level is:

Year 3 is 46.1% Year 5 is 29.1% Year 7 is 38.8% Year 9 is 6.2%

In 2010 there were 939 SACE completions in the Northern
Adelaide Region.

To achieve this target, an extra 19 students per
annum need to complete their SACE (That
equates to approx 1.5FTE students per secondary
site…..)

Improve the Literacy outcomes for ALL

  o Strategies
    • Implement Northern Adelaide Region Comprehension
      strategy 2011.
    • Build sustainable professional learning communities
      and undertake research (e.g. case studies) to support
      the implementation of a comprehension focus in sites.
    • Teachers use principles of Teaching for Effective
      Learning to support Comprehension strategy 2011.
    • All sites will use the recommended common
      assessment tool to inform classroom practice in 2011.

Improvement and Accountability
Promote a culture of achievement
 and improvement
  o Strategies
    • All sites will develop targets and strategies to move
      students towards regional standards by the end of
      Term 1.
    • Use common assessment tool to monitor
      achievement results particularly in relation to
      improvement in comprehension term by term.
    • Review and evaluate effectiveness of
      implementation of comprehension strategies
      annually.
    • Use analysis of achievement, review and
      evaluation data to develop relevant professional
      development programs by end of 2011.
        Aboriginal education
 Halve the gap for Aboriginal learners
  o Strategies
    •   Close the gap in literacy and numeracy
        outcomes for Aboriginal students from birth to
        Year 12
    •   Support and monitor Year 10, 11 and 12
        students to successfully complete their SACE
        through the Keeping Them on Track program.
    •   Build strong Transition Programs at key transition
        points: preschool to primary school; primary
        school to secondary school; and secondary
        school to post-school destinations
