Block Style

Open Punctuation

 Block Style: Everything is at left

margin. Do not indent

 Open Punctuation: No punctuation

after salutation or complimentary

close.

Margins

2” margin on top

1” margins on left, right and bottom

Top – leave room for letter head



Set Margins

Page Layout Tab – Margins Button –

Preset or Custom to set your own

 Only change the four majors (top,

bottom, left and right)

Header

 The header is where you will

include your name, class,

assignment & date for each

activity.

 Insert Tab – Header – Choose

Blank

 Type your name at left

margin. Strike the tab key

twice type the assignment –

enter.

 Type your class id. Strike the

tab key twice type the date –

close the header.

Set Page Formatting

 You need to set the document

to Single Space with 0pt

 Home Tab – Paragraph

Section of the Ribbon – set

spacing

 Change Spacing to Single

(drop menu)

 Change After to 0pt

Dateline

 Begin on first line

of type

 Use current date

 Initial Caps – spell

out month

 QS after dateline

Letter Address

 Looks like envelope

would

 Name, Title (if

necessary)

 Initial caps

 DS after letter

address

Salutation

 Use Sir name and

last name only

 No punctuation

 Initial caps

 DS after salutation

Body of the letter

 SS Paragraphs &

DS Between

 At left margin

 DS after last

Complimentary Close

 Only the first letter of
