Dear Parents
YEAR 3 – REAL LIFE ROMAN VISIT
Yesterday the pupils in Year 3 were visited by Titus, a real life Roman as part of their studies of
Roman Life. During the day the pupils were entertained by Titus and had the opportunity to
examine and use Roman artefacts and take part in a re-enactment of the story of Boudicca. They
also had great fun training as Roman soldiers. All the pupils and staff had a fantastic day and we
would like to thank you for your help in dressing the children up in their excellent costumes.
Yesterday was National Sing-Up Day. Each class took part by incorporating
singing into their daily class activities. At the end of the day we had a whole school
assembly to celebrate how we had 'spread a little singing'. Year 2s sang '1,2,3, good to be
me', Y6s sang their own version of a Cheryl Cole song, Y5 demonstrated a singing warm up,
Year 1 sang Mrs Mizen's composition - 'we are lining up quietly!' and Reception sang a song about animals to
the tune of 'A pizza hut'. To round everything off, the two Stanbridge choirs joined together to perform a
gospel medley called, 'Don't build your house on the sandy land'. Watch out for the updates and pictures on
the school website...
NEW SCHOOL DINNER MONEY SYSTEM
Following our letter on 11th February about our new Dinner Money System, we would like to thank everyone
who took note and took on board the new payment method this week. It has made a huge difference to the
burden of dinner money administration and is more accurate for both parents and the school alike. If for any
reason you missed the letter it can be viewed at www.stanbridge.ik.org on the Letters and Documents page.
Brief details of the procedure are as follows:
Payments should be by cheque payable to Stanbridge Primary School
Payment must be made on a Monday
Payment for the term or month is preferred
Payments should be made in the same way as before, although
cheques do not need to be in an envelope provided the details are recorded on the reverse of the
cheque.
ONLINE SURVEY FOR PARENTS
We are trialling an online survey programme to see if it will help give us more information on your opinions
about various aspects of school life. The first survey has gone live at:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CDDNQTL
You can also access it from our school website.
It's a very short two-page survey which should only take a couple of minutes to complete.
Please give it a go! As it's a trial, responses are limited to the first 100 people who click through. We aim to put
more short surveys on in the coming terms to help us build up a picture of how we can improve the school with
your help.
Thank you for taking the time to give us some feedback.
AFTER SCHOOL CRICKET
The Friday after school cricket session is cancelled for tomorrow and re-starts next week – Friday 5th March.

SCHOOL WEB SITE
Don’t forget to visit our school web site www.stanbridge.ik.org to check out class pages for updates and

FRIENDS OF STANBRIDGE
The Auction of Promises will be held on Friday 19th March at the school with Ian Bird as auctioneer.
Ian comes highly recommended by all the preschool and year 2 parents who have been to one of his
parties - we're all looking forward to a fun night!
The Auction of Promises is one of the biggest fundraisers in the school year. In 2008, this event alone
raised £2,500 and paid for the sensory garden in the Infant Playground. It would be fantastic if we
could make a similar amount this year - we're fundraising for a number of fun projects for your children
including a much needed climbing wall in the Junior Playground.
A copy of the donated prizes will be sent home in the next week so you can decide what you might like to make
an offer on. Tickets will also be on sale so come along, show your support and have some fun with friends and
family!
The quiz was a lot of fun and, with your help, we raised over £380.
Congratulations to the winning team - Mrs Cottis and her team of brainy teachers!
