					   What is Global
    Warming?
Global warming is the warming up of
the planet above the temperature it
      should be under normal
          circumstances.

There are indications that melting of the
 Greenland Ice Sheet has accelerated
dramatically in the last few decades.

   The one constant of
climate has been change
    by natural forces.

What is new is that human
activities are altering the
 composition and size of
the atmosphere, the face
   of the land, and the
     climate system.
What do you know about a
What is the greenhouse?

Greenhouse The Greenhouse Effect is the
              trapping of heat near Earth’s
  Effect? surface by certain gases,
such as water vapor and CO2.

              Why is this a problem?

              If greenhouse gases did not
trap heat the Earth would be
much cooler. So it’s a good
              thing! Or is it?
 Consequences
   of Climate
    Change

What do you think is happening
and will continue to happen due
      to climate change?

1)Parts of the Earth’s Ice Caps
            will melt.

2)Rise in ocean levels which will
         cause flooding

  3) If coastal areas flood this
affect where crops area grown.

So what’s the big
     deal?
Antarctica used to be hot and
now its cold. Why is that so
 important? And what does that
have to do what’s happening in
Antarctica and around the world
              now?
