                                        Pinnacle CMS Policy & Procedure

Overview:

The Windows-based Pinnacle workstation using the “fat-client” Omnis interface is
                                                                           3
    configured using a three-tiered architecture of Oracle SQL*Net, Omnis 7 v8.0, and
    Pinnacle v5.x libraries.

Before continuing, be sure the workstation meets the minimum hardware and software
requirements. Pinnacle recommends the following minimum components for the Windows-
    based Pinnacle workstation:
        o Pentium level processor
        o 64MB RAM
o 250MB of free disk space
        o Network interface card (NIC)
        o 32-bit version of Microsoft Windows (9x, 200x, NTsp6, ME, XP)

                                                      TCP/IP
                           Pinnacle Database Server Pinnacle Workstation
Oracle 8i (or later) Database Oracle 9i Client
                            & SQL*Net (TNS) Listener Omnis73 v8 Runtime
                                                               Pinnacle v5.x Libraries
There are several required components to setup and configure the Pinnacle workstation as
outlined below. This document outlines steps 4-7; all other steps are accomplished via the
Oracle Client Installation Policy & Procedure document.

        Oracle Client Installation
        1. Install the Oracle client locally
        2. Configure the Oracle client registry
        3. Create an Oracle connection to the Pinnacle server

        Pinnacle Client Installation
        4. Install the Omnis application and fonts locally
        5. Install the Pinnacle libraries locally
        6. Create a desktop shortcut icon(s)
        7. Configure Pinnacle user settings

If Oracle was purchased and licensed through PAETEC, then PAETEC will deliver a CD-
ROM that includes the Oracle client software. Otherwise, if the customer licenses Oracle in-
house, it is their responsibility to provide the Oracle client software. The Oracle client
software must be installed before continuing with the Pinnacle Omnis client installation.
                   3
The Omnis 7 v8.0 runtime software and the Pinnacle v5.x libraries are accessible for
download from the Pinnacle Customer Care Center (http://www.pinnsoft.com) as an
executable file. The Pinnacle Customer Care Center is a password-protected Web site.
Username and Password information can be obtained from a Pinnacle Professional
    Services representative by:
o Contact the assigned Implementation Manager
o Email the Pinnacle Product Support Team at pinnhelp@paetec.com
o Call the Pinnacle Product Support Team at 1-800-776-2750

The Pinnacle Omnis client installation process on Windows NT/2000-based workstations
requires the user be a member of the Administrators group. This group membership is
required to install the Omnis fonts and the Omnis installation key.

Part 4-6: Install Omnis, Pinnacle Libraries, & Shortcut Icons
              3
Omnis 7 v8.0 runtime software is the graphical user interface toolset used by Pinnacle to
access the Oracle database. Omnis has four fonts that are used by the Pinnacle application
and must be added to the Windows Fonts lists. If this step is omitted (user is not a member of
the Administrators group), the Pinnacle windows will not display properly.

The Pinnacle libraries are used by Omnis to allow the end-user to view and operate the
Pinnacle windows. These libraries will be updated with each Pinnacle maintenance release
and replace the existing libraries. Oracle client and/or Omnis upgrades are not necessary
during Pinnacle maintenance releases unless specified.

 Step 1: Download the client installation software from the Pinnacle Customer Care
Center (http://www.pinnsoft.com) to the workstation. The client installation software will
be available within the respective release page.

 Step 2: Launch the Pinnacle Installer executable.

 Step 3: At the Pinnacle CMS Setup page, select the [Yes] button to continue. Be sure to
close all programs, and then select the [OK] button to continue.

 Step 4: At the License Agreement page, review the terms and conditions of the software.
Then, select the [Next] button to continue.

 Step 5: At the Installation Options page, select the components to install. If a component
is already installed, then the Pinnacle Installer will ignore this option.

 Step 6: Select the [Next] button to continue.

 Step 7: Enter a destination folder for the Pinnacle libraries. By default, the Pinnacle
Installer will create the Pinnacle libraries in the directory C:\Program
Files\Pinnacle\Pinnacle CMS v5.x (where “x” represent the maintenance release).

 Step 8: Select the [Install] button to install the software.

 Step 9: Select the [OK] button to close the Pinnacle Installer and end the client
        installation process.

Part 7: Configure Pinnacle User Settings

At the Pinnacle Database Logon window, the username, password, and connect fields can
be pre-defined in a text file called axis.con. This file, located in the directory containing the
Pinnacle libraries, can expedite the login process, but can also represent a security risk if the
username, password, and connect fields are populated.

 Step 1: At the Pinnacle Database Logon window, enter pathsetter in the Username
       field.

 Step 2: Enter pinnacle in the connect string field, or the TNS entry defined during the
       Oracle client installation.

 Step 3: Optionally, enter a default Username and/or Password into their respective
       fields.

 Step 4: Select the [OK] button to complete the Pinnacle login environment settings.
