FM Enterprise to Go Live on Monday 16 July 2001
The countdown sign in plant Services is down to single digits. Over the weekend we will make the shift from FMS to FME. On Monday morning our customers will be able to enter their work requests on a new, user-friendly web page and we will be tracking our work on FME. We’re replacing our old, character-based FMS with modern point and click MS Windows software. Once we make the transition to the new software, it will improve the quality of our work life. Here’s how we plan to make the transition easier.
FME Help Desk Trains and Supports on Demand
As most everyone is aware, we’ve been providing extensive training for all the folks who will be using FME. This has included opportunities for refresher courses and we will continue to make training available. Dana and Suzi will staff the FME Help Desk from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. You can reach them by phone at 685-4129 or via email at fmehelp@u. During the week of the 16th through the 20th of July their phone and email will be forwarded to the field. There will be additional people specifically assigned to your shop to help you during our first week on FME.
Dedicated Support for Every Zone during Go Live Week
Here’s a list of who will be in the trenches with you during the first week of FME implementation. The assigned support people are members of the Enterprise 2001 Focus Team and other key individuals who know both FME and your work processes well. Greg Forche and Ron Monson of Maximus (AssetWorks) will also be here to back us up. The folks listed as local experts aren’t nearly as good at FME as you will be in a month. However, we felt it important to find someone in each zone who understood the basics of FME and could be a local resource to you. These people and your assigned support are here to help you succeed with this exciting new system. Everything is easy once you know how to do it. We intend to make it easy for you to learn.
Newsletter Publishes First in Series of Helpful Tips
Last Thing Friday Afternoon Checklist Kiss FMS goodbye. Remember how much you used to hate it? Now it’s the devil you know! Turn your PC off by selecting Shut Down from the Start Menu. This will make sure you are logged out of the FME test database. It’ll save energy, too! First Thing Monday Morning Checklist Turn your PC back on. Upon rebooting, Nebula will point you at the real FME database. Double Click on the FM Enterprise icon. Login to FME with your UW Net ID in all CAPITAL LETTERS. This will probably be the same as your Nebula login, but in CAPS. Enter your password. This will probably be the same as your Nebula login: NOT all caps. Relax, do your work as normal. Only the computer system has changed. Everything else is as usual. Ask your assigned support for help as you need it. Do your own work, but don’t go without assistance. We are here to help. FME will be much easier to learn than FMS was! Contact the FME Help Desk for further assistance: 685-4129 or fme-help@u.
