Description

These out of place parts are like “inserts” into the conundrum of the Revelation riddle. Here the Author, God the Almighty, takes the liberty of randomly leading the reader away from the events of the moment to show him something that either has happened, or, something that will happen (from the point of view of John).

About the Layout of this Book

While obviously the general flow of the events and the action of this Book of the Revelation is

chronological, it should be equally evident to the studied mind of any discerning student of

scripture that certain key moments in the action are out of sequence. That is, some elements are

not in their proper place, where the overall chronology of the Apocalypse narrative is concerned.

These out of place parts are like “inserts” into the conundrum of the Revelation riddle. Here the

Author, God the Almighty, takes the liberty of randomly leading the reader away from the events

of the moment to show him something that either has happened, or, something that will happen

(from the point of view of John). Realistically, then, therefore, these inserts need not and indeed,

they cannot be expected to occur in the actual unfolding of the apocalyptic storyline, in the place

where they are found in John’s account. The entire Revelation is a riddle and so, must be

approached as such.

The passages in question are as follows: 7:9-17; 9:12-21; 10:1-11; 11:1-12 (11:2; 11:3-6; 11:7-

12); 12:1-17 (12:1-6; 12:7-17); 13:1-18 (13:3; 13:5-18); 14:1-5; 17:1-18 (17:8, 10-11; 17:11-

12, 16-17); 18:1-24.

The order in which they should or will play out in the unveiling is as follows:

 12:1-17—synopsis of the history of Israel, to the coming and takeover of the beast;

power behind all the nations that have and will interact with the Jews

 18:1-24 (14:8)—collapse of Babylon the Great (rise and reign of the Jews, per Eze. 38

& 39); her fall must precede the Apocalypse and the reign of the Jews

 14:1-5 (7:1-8)—ministry and work of the 144,000 Jews begins (after WWIII) and

continues to the mid-point of the last seven years of history and the reign of the beast (the

“woe” factor precludes the possibility of this period being inclusive of more than 3.5 of

the last seven years—the Great Tribulation)

 11:3-6—work of the two witnesses (first 3.5 years of the last seven of history)

 12:7-17—war in Heaven; satan booted out (woe #3)

 11:7—mission accomplished, after 3.5 years of torment! War between the two

witnesses and the Italian prince (the beast-to-be); death of both combatants, 3.5 years

before the end of the world

 13:3-4; 17:8, 10-11 (11:7)—resurrection of the beast (Daniel’s little horn); celebration

of his invincibility

 11:8-12—celebration over the bodies of the witnesses; resurrection and ascension

 11:2; 13:5-18 (14:9-11)—beast battles and defeats of the Jews; global reign of the

beast from Jerusalem, for 3.5 years (last 42 months of last seven years of history)

 7:9-17 (14:12-13; 15:2-4)—the beast’s slaughter of the “great multitude” (in preview),

harvested by the ministry of the 144,000

 17:12, 16-17—appointment and reign of the ten kings; destruction of the Great Whore

(Babylon the Great)

 9:12-21 (16:12-14; 14:17-20)—thermo-baric warfare; the Battle of Armageddon,

phase I; Kings of the East at the Euphrates battle the beast and the ten kings

 17:14 (Zec. 14; 19:11-21)—thermo-nuclear warfare; the Battle of Armageddon, phase

II; the ten kings and the beast battle the Lamb of God
