General Information

As the title goes…, this will be an “All Tuna” fishing derby – categories as follows: Ahi Tuna,
Aku Tuna, Cawa Cawa Tuna. Note: Dogtooth will not be included in this derby…….

Anglers will have the choice of fishing ½ day (afternoon session) on Sunday, June 21st and/or
½ day (morning session) on Monday, June 22nd.

This will be a B-boat range derby – all private boats and b-boats participating in the derby must
remain within approved b-boat area.


Tourney Entry Fee

      $150.00 Entry Fee Per Boat Per Fishing Session

      Fees are refundable up to the start of the derby. Sorry, no refunds on derby day once
       boats leave Kwajalein/Roi-Namur harbor.


Derby Categories: Ahi Tuna, Aku Tuna, Cawa Cawa Tuna


Derby Prize Money Allocation

Prize monies will be awarded to the team that lands the tuna closest to 25 lbs. without going
over. In the event of a tie – total aggregate weight of all tuna caught by tying boats will
determine winner. Aggregate weight categories being Ahi Tuna, Aku Tuna and Cawa Cawa
Tuna.

Note: 20% of total entry fees collected for this derby will be set aside for the KAISC Grand
Champion Angler (KGCA) award at the conclusion of the 2009 KAISC derby/tournament series.

Ahi Tuna Side Pot – Derby will also host an optional “Ahi Tuna” side pot. Entry fee is $100.00
– monies will be awarded to the team participating in the side pot with the heaviest Ahi Tuna (no
minimum weight). 100% of the Ahi tuna side pot monies will be awarded for this category. If no
Ahi tuna are caught during derby, monies will be refunded to side pot participants.

Teams must be registered for the Ahi Tuna side pot prior to the start of the first derby fishing
session, Sunday afternoon, June 21st.

KAISC Grand Champion Angler (KGCA) Points

KGCA points for this derby will include the following:

Participation Points – Each angler will receive a total of 50 points for participation in derby. If
fishing both sessions, anglers will be awarded 50 points per session.

Tuna closest to 25 lbs. – Each angler on the team winning the derby with the tuna closest to
25 lbs. without going over will receive 50 points.

Ahi Tuna – Each angler on the team that lands the heaviest Ahi tuna in this derby will receive
200 points – Ahi Tuna must weigh 26 lbs. or more.

Marlin – Each angler on the team bringing in a Marlin will be awarded 100 points.

Early Registration – Each team registering early for the derby will be eligible for early
registration drawing – members of winning team will receive additional 25 points. Teams must
be registered NLT Saturday, June 20th, 8:00 p.m. to be eligible for drawing.


Derby Rules

   Derby will be half day sessions during normal Small Boat Marina (SBM) B-boat hours.

   An additional derby entry fee of $10.00 must be paid by all anglers participating in derby that
    are non-KAISC members. Anglers also have the option of paying $25.00 for KAISC
    membership for the remainder of 2009.

   USAKA Registered boats must be equipped with working VHS radio – SBM boat Captains
    must also have a working GPS on board (provided by SBM).

   USAKA registered boats must file a float plan prior to departure from Kwajalein or Roi-Namur
    harbor.

   This is a b-boat range derby - all boats MUST remain in approved b-boat range established
    for derby day.

   All fish must be trolled up, live baiting is allowed.

   Mutilated or shark bit fish do not qualify. All fish caught must be in edible and fresh
    condition. Any evidence of freezing will disqualify any fish. The weigh master has the right
    to refuse any mutilated fish or fish considered to be in poor condition.

   Channels 12 & 68 should be used for official radio traffic only. Channel 72 should be used
    for tournament chatter.

                              Small Craft and/or West Wind Advisory

Small Craft and/or West Wind Advisory

If there is a small craft advisory or west wind advisory called prior to the start of any B-
boat session, derby monies for that session will be refunded. If there is a small craft
advisory or west wind advisory called during any B-boat session, all fish caught will be
weighed for the derby – monies will not be refunded.
