marie Curie was a woman of firsts. Marie, who is
commonly referred to as madame Curie, was the
first woman to teach at the prestigious sorbonne
in France. While teaching, she met mr. Pierre
Curie and they were later married. the two of
them researched the field of radiology. The couple
investigated a.h. Becquerel’s study of
radioactivity in uranium, and they soon
discovered the elements radium and polonium.
They were later awarded the Nobel Prize by the
swedish academy of sciences. Marie was the first
woman to win such a prize, and she remains one
of the most fascinating figures of the twentieth
century.
dear Mr. Andrews,
I am writing to you about your review of my book the
first snowfall. The sunday morning herald article
contained a few errors. Your review said that the main
character was going to his grandparents’ house to
celebrate christmas, but the holiday was actually
Thanksgiving. Also, the neighbor in the book is Italian,
and not irish. The last thing I wish to point out is that
the book is set in the state of Iowa but you wrote that
it was set in illinois. I would appreciate it if you could
take a look at these errors, and write a new article to
be printed next Sunday. i want to thank you for taking
the time to read my novel.
sincerely,
Olivia Henderson
