Procedure:
Discuss the vocabulary: seed, seedling, sprout, plant, grow,
pumpkin
#1: Show the time lapse video of a pumpkin growing.
Show powerpoint with vocabulary. Choral response
on pumpkin cycle slide
Act out sequence of pumpkin growing with the
students using
“ ____ se convierte en____”
#2: Have the students reinforce what they saw on the
video by coloring, cutting out the cards.
Place 1 card on the left of the phrase “ __ se
convierte en__ “and ask the students to complete the
other side. Class responds on count of 3. Continue
with more examples.
Have 2 students model partner activity. Partners sit
across from each other with a folder in between to
hide their work. Partner A places 2 cards that are in
order and says the sentence leaving off the last part so
the other must complete the sentence. Partner B
completes the sentence and finds the 2 cards.
Students remove the folder to check if their cards are
the same and both students say the whole sentence.
All partners do above activity. Teacher monitors the
class to make sure students say the full sentence.
#2 cont. Students now paste the Life Cycle of a Pumpkin
cards into their Pumpkin book.
Day 2
#3: Activity #1-Have students observe a sprouted seed.
#4: Activity #2-let students create their own pumpkin
sprout.
Optional: Do the math extension on pg 91
Review
Music: Sing the Pumpkin song in English (or find other
pumpkin songs on the internet to sing).
Art: Make a paper pumpkin.
