Using Images from the Web
There are many excellent, content-specific images on the Web that you can find using search engines and other
resources. Incorporating images can make your teaching materials more visually appealing, while aiding your
student's understanding of the material. Students’ use of images in reports and papers can also be extremely
useful.
It is important that we teach students respect for copyrights, and that we teach and model proper citation. If you
copy a photo from a website you need to provide the source of the photo, diagram or graph. Online images can
be cited as follows:
Description or title of image. [Online Image] Available http://address/filename, date of
document or download.
Example: Hubble Space Telescope release in the Space Shuttle's Payload Bay. [Online Image]
Available http://explorer.arc.nasa.gov/pub/SPACE/GIF/s31-04-015.gif, October 1, 1996.
