How To Fix Error 1068 On Windows 7

Quite a commonly occurring error, the error 1068 is a fault that is linked

to something called the "INTERNET CONNECTION SHARING WIZARD" on the Windows

XP operating system. This error appears when one of the internet connection

sharing wizard's dependencies (one of the services it needs to run) fails

to load properly. Windows XP error 1068 crops up when you are running a

remote connectivity feature within your operating system. While this might

seem like a big problem, it's actually quite easy to fix if you follow the

instructions given in this quick tutorial.

When this problem happens, the error1068 will appear as this message:

An error occurred while Internet Connection Sharing Wizard was being

enabled. The dependency service or group failed to start.

1068: Dependency service or group failed to start.

Either way, this error is due to a problem with the Internet Connection

Sharing Wizard that appears when you try to run this application. In order

to fix the problem, you can apply the steps that follow below:

How To Fix The 1068 Error On Your PC

It's possible to start the Dependent Service manually, which should fix the

problem. As mentioned above, the reason for this fault is that the

Dependent Service won't load for some reason. To start this program

manually, follow these steps: Click on the Start Menu; then click Help and

Support. From here, select the "Pick a Task" option from the menu, and then

click on "Use Tools to view your computer information and diagnose

problems". A Tools menu will then appear, and from here you need to select

"System Configuration Utility". A pane on the right will then pop up, and

from here you can choose to "Open System Configuration Utility". Within

this utility, look for a tab labeled "Services" and click on it. Inside

here, all you need to do is check the following services and make sure that

they are turned on by clicking on the check box next to it:

Application Layer Gateway Service

Network Connections

Network Location Awareness (NLA)

Plug and Play

Remote Access Auto Connection Manager

Remote Access Connection Manager

Remote Procedure Call (RPC)

Telephony

Once you have turned all of the above services on, you will need to reboot

your PC and then start the Internet Connection Sharing Wizard again, as you

normally do. Hopefully, everything will run normally and you won't see the

error 1068 appear anymore. However, if it still persists, you will need to

move onto cleaning the Windows registry.

The registry is a common cause of the 1068 error on your PC. This is an

enormous database, and is the section of Windows that stores all of your

programs and applications' files, options and settings. Windows will need

to access this registry whenever you run a program, in order to retrieve

the information it needs. Without the registry, your computer wouldn't be

able to run any processes at all. The problem with the registry is that,

like everything else with computers, its design is far from perfect. Now

and again certain files will sustain damage, causing Windows to no longer

recognize them - The result of this is problems like the 1068 error. The

best way to repair this registry is to use a special program, what's known

as a registry cleaner, which can be downloaded from computer software

websites. Make sure you choose a good one.
