Emergencies are immediate threats to persons or
property and should always be reported directly
to Pierce County authorities via 911.
Steps in reporting a crime
1) Know your address and phone #
2) Dial 911 (if emergent)
3) Report incident
4) Answer questions
5) Request call number or case number
(needed for insurance and follow up)
6) Ask if report will be written
Non-emergencies are incidents that do not pose immediate
threats, and which may have occurred in the past.
Here is the latest advice from the Sheriff’s department.
Should you not have access to the internet or have difficulties using the
online reporting system, you may still call the non-emergency line (253-798-
4721) and ask for a Report Writer to assist you.
Please know that the call takers who answer the non-emergency number are
also the same people who answer emergency 9-1-1 calls. Please be patient if
the call taker needs to put you on hold to answer incoming 9-1-1 calls.

In either case when reporting an incident or crime, please
be sure to ask for the police case number, which is used
when following up and for making insurance claims when
needed.
