Music Notes
My friends in K and 1st have been working on steady beat and feeling the ―Heartbeat‖ of the songs. We have begun to talk about short and
long sounds and even reading rhythms.
2nd grade was amazing in their program ―Make a Difference‖ I am so proud of them! Also, thank you so much for all the donations, we had
so much to give – that’s awesome!
3rd grade is working hard on their program ―Spaced Out‖. I’m sure it will be out of this world! Come and check it out Nov. 18th – 6pm.
Students have been assigned a color shirt to wear to represent their planet! Students will need to be here no later than 5:45pm.
4th grade is finishing up our unit on George Gershwin and Aaron Copland. These are wonderful American composers. We are also beginning
―Recorder Karate‖. All students are expected to bring recorder, Recorder Karate book, and a pencil to Music class.
5th grade is finishing up their unit on Latino music. We even got to do a little salsa dancing! We are also beginning Recorder Karate. All

4th and 5th graders who have signed up for ―Heritage Glee‖ i.e. Heritage Chorus started on Wed. Oct. 6th! They have already impressed me
very much with their amazing sound. We have over 60 members! We will be performing for our Veterans’ Day program on the Nov. 11th,
going to a nursing home to sing for them in Dec. as well as singing at our Holiday Sing-Along. In the spring we will be presenting a musical
called ―The North Star Musical Journey‖ that will go along with our theme for the year! I am so excited!!
Parents if you are able to help with grade level programs (i.e. decorating, costumes, etc…) please email me angelaw1@wcs.edu. I am so
excited about our programs this year and I know we can make them wonderful with your help!!!!
