The Salvation Army—Omaha

The Salvation Army has 23 programs to serve the hungry, homeless and near homeless and

those without hope in the Omaha area. If there is a problem in the community, The Salvation

Army has a program to help—families facing crises, abused or neglected children, lonely

seniors, disaster victims and others. The Omaha Salvation Army helped over 150,000 people

last year.

“We are proud of our wise use of donor money—of every dollar donated, 83 cents goes back to

programs and direct services.” –Major Paul D. Smith, Divisional Commander.

Our Mission Statement:

The Salvation Army, an international movement is an evangelical part of the universal Christian

church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its

mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in his name without

discrimination.

Our Programs:

Our Community Assisted Support Services (CASS) offer temporary housing, substance abuse

counseling and referral and most of all, compassion to those who have fallen on hard times.

Transitional housing services, seasonal services and emergency support for those who are

recovering from mental illness are also available through The Salvation Army.

Programs devoted to serving community families and children include our Stepping Stones

Child Development Center, Early Head Start, outreach to incarcerated individuals and support

for those seeking to leave a life of prostitution and CARES, a residential program for pregnant

and parenting teen girls.

Our senior programs offer anything from housing for low income seniors to intergenerational

activities, special social events or simply providing a companion and fellowship to an older

adult.

The Salvation Army offers disaster relief services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the

year. No matter the severity of the situation, The Salvation Army will be on site to provide

food, clothing and counseling to those in need.
