Recipient of the University’s Research Enhancement Grant for pilot study work in
preparation for federal funding proposal on sexual offender treatment.
Houston Police Department - $50,000.00 2002-2004
Principal Investigator on project that included a needs assessment and development of an
evaluation system for the Cultural Diversity and Mediation Trainings for the Houston
Police Department. Worked closely with HPD to improve cultural diversity training
based on the current literature and needs assessment conducted with over 800 officers.
Developed assessment instruments to evaluate the newly implemented program.

The internship year consisted of two six-month rotations, with assignments to the
following facilities: an acute psychiatric inpatient service, child and adolescent clinic,
and the consultation and liaison unit of the county hospital. Throughout the 12 months,
one day a week is devoted to the Family Law Project, where custody evaluations are
conducted, and one day a week is devoted to the Baylor Psychiatry Clinic, where a
caseload of five individual outpatients are seen for therapy. Also throughout the year,
leading an ongoing sexual offender treatment group through the Sexual Abuse Treatment
Program at Baylor College of Medicine.
-Community consultation by conducting custody evaluations made available
through the 257th District Court, The Honorable Linda Motheral, and
the Family Law Project.
-Conducting individual therapy with inpatient and outpatient clients.
-Conducting group therapy for an ongoing sex offender treatment group.
-Attend weekly seminars of the following: Sexual Abuse Treatment Program,
