MOTIVATION
After watching a special
inside look on prisons I
thought that I could make
a PlC controlled based
prison system
Since I really enjoyed the
PLC glass and never got
the time to try my hand at
plc networking this was the
perfect time.
3
INTRODUCTION
While watching the special I saw a guard who
had to walk down the cells on manually open
each door with a key so at an instant he was
out numbered anywhere between 8 to 16
inmates. With some sort of automated
system the guard could distance himself from
the inmates.
4
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Network two PLCs and Demostrate the
master and slave configuration.
Reduce the voltage to control a 5volt
motor.
5
PROPOSED SOLUTION
List steps taken to solve the problem such
as:
1. Software (programming)
2. Networking (trail and error)
3. Assembly , building of the relay and gate to be
controlled
4. Overall working conditions (does it all work
together)
In each step there were troubleshooting
and testing in each step.
6
Proposed Solution
Small annoyances – the PLC ladder
program I was using did from time to
time act weird. If you got a no response
from processor message you had to
reboot the system.
7
RESULTS
A network of two
PLC’s
Master and Slave Master Video
configuration
Implantation of a
network of PLC’s
Slave Video
8
CONCLUSIONS
This system could be used in other
workplaces where security is a must.
I learned how to network PLC’s
How to use the master/slave
configuration
Use and wire relays
9
FUTURE WORK
Security cameras
Forward and reverse
direction of the
motor used to open
and close the gate
More PLC’s
networked together.
