Final Website Documentation
Web Site: Unofficial site for Glee
Preliminary Project Analysis: Answer each of the following questions prior to
beginning your project:
What are the conditions and other information given in the problem(s)
presented in your project?
Finding a way to organize all the information needed for this website and try
to keep it to 4 pages plus the home page.
How can you use the conditions & information you've learned about the
problem(s) in developing your solution?
Sketching out how I would like each page to look and to put all the correct
information in the correct page. I will use Photoshop to put the site together
visually and then splicing the .psd document, turn it into a website.
What questions would you ask of your client about the problem(s)
presented by your project?
How would they like to have the site broken down and how the want the
overall look to be fore the site.
Project Description: Include a brief (2-3 paragraphs) description of your project. In
your description, explain the problem that you are going to solve and why the topic
interested you.
My website will be an unofficial site for Fox’s show Glee. I have become a fan
of the popular show and I’ve watched since it premiered. For this website, I
want to feature some of the important features of the show so those who
haven’t watched the show before can go through the website and understand
the show better so they too can watch the show along with everyone else.
I will try to keep to the theme of the show, which is a simplistic style with
bold colors. Everything about the show is fun and bold, so that is what I will
try to go for.
While this show will not have many media features such as video and audio, I
will try to engage the audience as much as possible with pictures and quotes
that are as descriptive and engaging as possible. I will probably put links that
lead to other sites which can provide more interactive features since I will
not be able to do so.
Audience Statement: Describe your target audience. What are the characteristics of
your audience? Why should they take interest in your website? How will your
website help them? The Audience Statement should reveal a minimal amount of
research about your audience (e.g. - academic journals or other primary sources
that help you "paint a picture" of your audience).
My target audience is for anyone who loves musicals and quick humor. They
will take an interest in my website if they are interested in the type of show
that Glee is, they will find a lot of what they will need to know about the
show. If someone is new to Glee, there will be character bios, pictures,
episode summaries, quotes, and music from the show that will help get them
caught up .
Post-Project Analysis: Once you complete your project, answer the following
questions:
How did you revise your project?
I was going to have five pages including the home page but revised it once I
realized that I wouldn’t have enough information. When I first started out I
had planned for my navigation to be fixed and to have a footer at the bottom.
As I went along, I was pressing for time and decided to not do a fixed
navigation and footer. I then started to get ahead of schedule and decided to
go for it and the website turned out exactly as I wanted it to in the end.
What learning did you take from the process of creating your project?
Planning ahead and doing sketches really cuts back on time and makes the
whole process a lot easier. I usually spend more time in photoshop at the
beginning and then focus on content and code later, which makes for a
stressful process. But this time, I did content and html first and then with my
sketches I did the design and css. Plus, I tried doing fixed elements and a
footer which I had never done before and I was really happy that I was able
to do it.
Bibliography
For this project, I took image of Quinn’s hand making an “L” shape from
http://www.fox.com/glee/. I took information about the show from
http://www.tvfanatic.com/shows/glee/ and
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1327801/. Everything else, coding and graphics, are
all original.
