Japanese delegation meets Modi, TOTO inks MoU for Rs 380 cr plant in Halol

The Government of Gujarat today signed a

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with

TOTO, a leading Japanese player into sanitary

ware and bath fittings in presence of the

Hon‟ble Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri

Narendra Modi. The MoU signing was a key

element of the Japanese delegation‟s

programme during their two-day visit to

Gujarat. This is TOTO‟s first plant in India

which will be set up at GIDC Estate in Halol to

manufacture sanitary wares and cater to the

growing demand of the Indian market. The annual capacity of this plant would be

5,00,000 unit in its first phase of the total three phases planned as of now. The company

would be investing to the tune of INR 380 Crore (approx. US$ 76 million) for their setups

which will generate employment for 500 people. TOTO intends to complete proposed

investment by 2013 and commence commercial production by July of 2014. The MoU

was signed between Mr Mukesh Kumar, IAS, Managing Director, iNDEXTb and Mr

Toshikatsu Kondo, Project Leader of TOTO India Pvt. Ltd.

The Japanese delegation led by Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) visited

Hitachi‟s plant and other sites in industrial zones in Kadi. Considering the influx of

Japanese investments in the coming years, the state government plans to set up special

Japanese townships around the Dholera Special Investment Region and other industrial

zones. A Memorandum of Understanding between the Gujarat government and JETRO

was signed in November 2011 to set-up a Japanese Industrial Zone.

“Congress in other states seeks vote promising Gujarat like development”

Concluding his day-long Sadbhavana mission fast at Godhra, Gujarat Chief Minister in his

speech today said how Congress leaders treat Gujarat as a benchmark of development in

the country.

“In Punjab some days back there was an election rally, and to attract votes, former Chief

Minister and Congress leader Amarinder Singh publicly said to the people of Punjab, that

if they give vote, he would take Punjab ahead like Gujarat,” Modi said in his speech.

Modi added, “This means even in Punjab they are thinking to go ahead following the

Gujarat model.”

Modi further said, “in all over India, when they want to say something about prospect of

development, they have to name Gujarat. If they want to say they have achieved

development in some avenue, they compare it with gujarat and say they are ahead than

Gujarat in this area. When they promise development, they say they would take the

state ahead like Gujarat.”

With this, Modi said why should he react to the Congress people here(in Gujarat)? „

“Just copying Modi would not work. If you adopt some scheme, you would be in position

to achieve some improvement, but if they want to develop the entire state, then I would

request that the rulers would not achieve that just by adopting the schemes effective in

Gujarat, but they would have to take note of the unity, peace and brotherhood that is

prevailing here in the state of Gujarat. How castism, religious differences are buried here

is a thing to be identified. When you would do same in your state, your state also will go

ahead like Gujarat. This is the remedy that I want to reveal before the nation,” Modi

added.

Gujarat Tourism campaign brings more result than Incredible India-Big B

India‟s megastar Amitabh Bachchan is

coming back to Gujarat today to shoot the

second phase of the Gujarat Tourism

campaign.

On his blog yesterday, Bachchan said the

growth rate in tourism in Gujarat bas been

bigger and larger than the Government of

India campaign Incredible India.

Bachchan in his blog said, “Off again to

Gujarat tomorrow and into the second

phase of the tourism campaign, which I

must admit has turned out to be a

magnificent success. The growth rate in tourism in Gujarat has been bigger and larger

than the Government of India campaign Incredible India and that has made all those of

us that were involved in the working of it, very proud.”

He added, “All those that criticized, all those that raised objectionable content against

me, all laid to rest. It is satisfying to see how the work you put in succeeds, but even

more so when it succeeds despite heavy apprehensive motivations. It is not in order to

talk about achievements. Achievements have a habit of talking themselves, so one shall

not rub in the moment. But one cannot but lament the expense of such negativity, the

energy wasted and the destruction of all the positive forces within. Its futility is a heavy

price to pay. Better then to wait for results before pulling out the sword from the

scabbard.”
